Presumably if we had a different manager he would have different connections which again presumably would be as useful as AP's. More to the point we might -not necessaily would, of course - have or be creating a better zcouting setup. One of the criticisms that's been made of Pardew and CPFC more generally is that there's too much old school tie in our recruitment. All of which said our acquisitions in this aindow have been excellent, of course; whether an effective team can be made from them remains to be seen. I still see requirements in wing play and attacking midfield.
As for the scouting, this is something we have been reportedly working on, as I agree with you, we really need to up our game in this area. Unfortunately, as Southampton will tell us, this is not something that happens in a year. It takes years to establish a scouting network, and as we were nearly liquidised 6 years ago, this is understandably something that we'll have to bare with for the time being. The likes of Swansea, Bournemouth, Watford etc. have had a scouting network in place in specific countries for years due to a constant cash flow and the correct infrastructure installed, this is something we have only had for 6 years now and i'm sure we'll start seeing changes in that department soon.

I think its a considerable gamble given his injury record and lack of game time. Why is it a gamble, it's a win win situation, if it comes off great, if not I'm pretty sure there be a contract clause whereby he'll go back to Chelsea.

But I think its a gamble in that if he gets injured or doesnt recover form, we wont get the goals we need from him?

You can go up the top of block A and tell the fans up there. Quite a few singing 'Pardew out' on Saturday , they've all been going years.

Isn't that still more than wickham? Remy is definitely going to be a step up. He is going to have to score a goal or two when subbed on to prove himself worthy of taking Wickham's place, but I can see it being Bentecke/Remy predominantly with Wickham stepping in for injuries. It all depends on how long it takes Remy to get back to match fitness - possibly several weeks.. Bentecke has the talent of making something out of nothing as a centre forward, something Wickham struggles with. Wickham struggles to get into games and make his presence felt, Bentecke (after seeing his debut) seems just a much stronger presence that can exert his influence onto a game straight away. Remy has class and as long as his legs haven't gone yet there is no reason why he won't be able to rediscover some of that quality for us. Very happy! Number 10 needed now! We are lacking spark in the middle of the pitch. Cabaye and Mac largely have similar roles. Punch can play in that role but is inconsistent. Some fresh blood is needed there. I'd like to see Boateng get a few run outs.
