I think this is a reasoned point of view and one worth responding to.

I come on here to interact with the fans about out club that I am currently responsible for (with my co chairman, owners and chief exec).

I feel that the fans have a right to know as much as is reasonable and that doesn't compromise our position or competitiveness as a club or cause another person embarrassment. Yesterday was a fairly big event in the scheme of crystal Palace, I felt you had the right to know why and what the plan is. I didn’t come into this to sack managers, I like George a lot and we all wanted more than anything for him to succeed.

I could talk to the press, answer their questions and you could read it there but in a modern world with such amazing tools at our disposal why wouldn't I come on here and answer the questions of the people that care. Also very importantly gauge the mood and get ideas. The press pick up on it anyway and as such it kills two birds.

How many times as a fan did I have an idea and have no way of voicing it. This is an amazing environment and it seems crazy not to use it to talk directly to you.

Because very importantly I believe that I am accountable to you all. Maybe that’s’ not been the norm but that’s how we all feel.

Do I think it might drive interest and support for the club as well, Yes I certainly hope that this is a kind of unique access that is part of what can set us apart so in that context I guess there is a PR element to it. We could have taken fans on the board but why do that in the modern era when you can all get to me/us in this way and each and everyone of you can have a voice.

You will help form and shape this club as we move forward. Its already happening over loads of issues and small improvements but also all the player ideas, ticketing everything we look at all of them.

In that context, censorship is most certainly not required, I am more than capable of working out the agendas that people may have and factoring that into their views. I’ve already got a few peoples cards marked

If I come on here to answer selected questions then what would be the point, sometimes it moves very fast like last night and I miss some but I do try to answer them all, maybe someone could post a synopsis at certain points to save people reading the whole thread. I always quote the question or point I am responding to so maybe a mod could just cut my posts and post as a reference somewhere which would save repeated questions and people feeling they weren’t answered. I’ll also try to be clearer at the start what I wont respond to.

I feel sorry that some think I am not being candid or I am dodging topics. I really think I am meeting everything head on and being clear what I can and can’t comment on. I am really happy to clear up anything that still concerns people over this.

If we weren't talking on here, we would just have the press in between us surely that just makes it worse. Why wouldn’t I talk to you first before the press.

While we are on the subject of the press, The Neil would that be the same Neil Ashton that ran the story in the News of the world that I/we had met Alan Pardew for the managers job some months ago ?

Wow 60 pages and this is my first comment on this touchy subject, firstly those who have slated our chairman should be ashamed of themselves as he kindly came on to address to what happened after the Millwall game and answers questions (most were so silly it was unreal).
I am sad that Burley has been sacked but for those who said it was a knee-jerk decision based on that game should read every answer that Steve Parish has given and correct me if I am wrong didn`t Parish mention the other heavy defeats like the scunthorpe one back in August for a start.
Fans are so quick to jump the bandwagon and criticise the board in making decisions but sadly no time is a good time so the decision was the correct one as our league position being the reason.
I think it`s great that Steve Parish has given the time to answer questions us fans asked but you know as well as I do that certain questions cannot be answered so why keep wanting those questions answered.
For now Dougie is in charge and I suggest we get behind him and the team in getting out this mess and stop moaning about whats what, most have got what they wanted in Burley leaving so dont start moaning about CPFC2010 because without them there would no club its as simple as that.

Thank for your views Steve, I think they make perfect sense, no-one trusts what the press say anyway. I don't think any ones noticed you're back on yet. Happy new year anyway. And oh what's happening with the players George was lining up ? Are we back to square one, waiting for the new manager to sort out his preferences?

We will keep looking at the targets and put them in front of the new man when he arrives.

Steve, thanks again for taking the time and trouble to communicate with us on here. It is refreshing and helps to cut out the middleman, aka the media, where things can get distorted.

You're not going to be able to please all the people all the time, that much is clear. Whatever you do, some people will moan, that's the nature of football. For what it's worth, most fans back your decision to let GB go, despite how difficult that was to make.

You'll see that there are many suggestions for who should replace GB. Again, whoever you appoint will not have 100% approval. Whatever happens, we know your hearts are in the right place and you will do all you can to move Palace forward.
