probably not up in the "best ever" territory, but I though today's support was exceptional for an effectively meaningless game.

Must be from I think 78/79 2nd last away game at Orient. Attendance I think was around 20,000 with about 14,000 Palace. Fantastic

nice one bear,I was at the 6-0 Brum game, and If I rememeber right they was taking us apart before we scored the first goal LOL! I was there remember Jim Cannon bending one in with the outside of his foot and my friend who had never missed a match in years fell over on way to ground and broke his arm missed it all.

Best atmosphere and funniest was Wrexham V Mansfield in late 70s. palace played wrexham away a few days earlier and won 4-2 we then needed Mansfield to beat wrexham for us to go up, there were loads of palace fans stayed on for the game never heard chanting like it with three sets of fans shouting, mansfield won and we went up

As i'm only a young'en my best away match was Watford last season, it was my first proper away match (apart from wimbledon) and the atmosphere was brillianty, shame about the result though I don't like to cast nasturtiums, especially on a 'young'un', but I don't believe we played Watford last season, and we never lose there, the last time we did you probably weren't even a tingle in your old man's jap's eye.

Wimbledon at plough lane ,evening game ..looked like we had the whole ground , Thomas flipped Dennis wise up in the air and sparked a ruckus great away day .1-0 win. Reading away Elm Park ,we packed out a boozer in the high street early doors , bar staff were overrun, lost count on how many times we leaned over and filled up. Won that day 3-2 took thousands and got lagged up for a quid.

Has to be 1979 at Leicester.Evening game quite late in the season. We were loosing 1 0 and badly needed a result to keep our promotion push going.I was sitting in the main stand home section but there was loads of Palace everywhere all round the ground.Chants of Palace ringing round the ground. We equalised with virtually the last kick of the game to mad celebrations all round the ground.Outside in the car park it seemed like a home game with Palace everywhere and much tooting of horns. I was at that game. Leicester went ahead very early in the game, and all we got from the little Leicester b******s near us was, "You only sing when your'e winning". They got that back with interest when we equalised at the end! We were singing it on the coach back to London. Back to the original question, we played Wimbledon "away" just before they upped sticks and moved to Milton Keynes. Their attendances were pitiful, below 1000 I think,. We won 3-1 after being 1-0 behind at half time. We had the lower Holmesdale and it was crammed. The main stand, reserved for Wimbledon fans only, was virtually empty, with the rest of the ground closed. The lack of sound when Wimbledon scored was weird. Hopefully someone might be able to confirm or deny this, but I am sure I read somewhere that the proportion of away fans to "home" fans at the game was the largest on record. At the end of the game we wished WImbledon a pleasant move to Milton Keynes, serenading them with a hearty and very loud "f*** off to Milton Keynes..."
