Shipps' goal at Cardiff.....he scored, I was jumping up and down, but it wins, purely for the reason that while celebrating, I scraped my shin on the seat in front of me, and still have the mark today!

Live - Stockport away, definitely. had my sunnies on ready to hide the tears, then went mental! TV - sadly not Palace. Probably Robbie Keane's last minute equaliser against Germany in the World Cup. I jumped up and kicked a little dog toy which turned out to be really hard and i nearly broke my toe! Still ran around celebrating!

great thread way back when I was a teenager, I really did go mental at Palace games - sometimes good mental & sometimes bad the above game against Orient back in '79 was amazing - almost as good as Burnley a few days later - but me & my mates went ballistic when Swindle powered in Kenny Sansom's cross. We were packed in like sardines and the noise was incredible. Great times

Both these involved being in a pub yet in vastly different scenarios... My Palace mental moment was when David Hopkin curled in that beauty in 1997, I was in a pub in Carlow and was the only one watching it, the only other customers were oul lads having their afternoon Guinness, who I fairly startled by standing up on the footrest of my stool and shouting 'Yyyeeesssssssssss !!!' when it flew in The other was obviously the Ireland v Germany game in Japan in World Cup 2002, at which time I had the great fortune to be in Japan but it wasn't the match I got to go to, I was at Ireland v Saudi Arabia, but when that Keane equaliser went in so spectacularly in injury time I went sliding on my knees on carpet in a packed pub in front of totally startled Japanese who clearly thought I was mental, the carpet burn was well worth it !

Best moment at the game: definitely Hopkin's curler at Wembley. What a moment. Most 'mental' monent was definitely in a pub though - when Darren Powell equalised against Sunderland. I had downed many a beer (despite having a big exam the next morning) and was watching with a a couple of mates and a big group of Sunderland fans who turned out to be a good bunch. I'm generally quite reserved, but I was up on the table at that point - beer everywhere. Quality. Clinton's goal against liverpool, when we beat them in the first leg of the League Cup, was another big one. I was in another pub, full of scousers, at the time. Not entirely sure why none of them punched me that night - I can only put it down to luck.
The Three Twerps were one twerp short... again! |

Darren Powell's equaliser. I was watching on the screen at Selhurst - that was utter bedlam.

Best moment at a game: Hopkin's curler against Sheffield United. Arguably my all time favourite. Most mental moment - When Michael Hughes netted the final and deciding penalty against Sunderland. I nearly woke up the whole neighbourhood by running outside and screaming "IAIN DOWIE'S RED AND BLUE ARMY!" Recent times:
"Look at that. Accident blackspot? These aren't accidents! They're throwing themselves into the road gladly! Throwing themselves into the road to escape all this hideousness!" |

i seem to remember going a bit mental when we scored our winner at old trafford in 80's,man u weren't the force they are now and we had a much better side than we have now,,,,,,,,,,but going to old trafford and winning was still a bit special. also brighty's equaliser in the fa cup semi final. kenny sansom scoring from the spot against arsenal at highbury. dougie at stockport. scoring our winner at the old den in the late 80's,we won 2-1,i think it was andy gray scored it,,,,,,,,but i soon quietened down when i realised i was about to get my head kicked in by several millwall fans who seemed to appear from no-where in our end. there's loads more i'm sure but that'll do.
