Oh, OK, £55m then

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Why not ? Southgate will see he is better than some of the others in a position that has seen past regulars Henderson and Phillips not make it

That's what I'm hoping. A CM of Rice, Wharton and Bellingham would win the Euros.

Why are you so keen on selling him?

Only 55m? Recent rumour suggested Bayern might bid 60m for him! In any case I don't want us to sell him. He's fast becoming the midfield general and playmaker for which we've been crying out since Cabaye left!

Probably not, but it’s Southgate’s way of saying he’s been noticed and has a good chance in the future.

Crystal Palace outnumber Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United
The Eagles have the join-most representatives in the England squad along with Liverpool and Manchester City.

At the other end, Tottenham have only provided one player — the lowest of the Premier League's 'Big Six'.

Crystal Palace: 4
Liverpool: 4
Manchester City: 4
Arsenal: 3
Manchester United: 3
Aston Villa: 2
Chelsea: 2
Everton: 2
Newcastle: 2
Bayern Munich: 1
Brentford: 1
Brighton: 1
Burnley: 1
Real Madrid: 1
Tottenham: 1
West Ham: 1

It will be interesting to see how many of the Palace can make the cut. Players like Bellingham and Foden are starters but Madison has gone right off the boil at Spurs where as out boys are bang in form.

Shaw probably wont be fit so why no Mitchell?

Who says so? What a doom merchant you are sometimes Painter.

Anyway, I join the rest in congratulating the four 'chosen ones' and wishing them luck and every success if they make the final cut. Their selection does wonders for the image of our club.

But, as I and others have already written, let's hope none of them get badly clobbered.

What an end to the season we are having. Great stuff.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

the only reason I can see Wharton not going is that he has not been involved up til this moment, and all other midfielders have.

I don't know too much about Curtis jones, but Wharton and Mainoo are the only real DMs we have in that squad. CG likes to play further forward, TAA is useful in Midfield, but not as A DM.. Declan Rice will play, hopefully not too much as a DM after the Season he's had at the gunners. Wharton goes for me.

Fantastic news for all concerned.
Adam Wharton is such an old head on young shoulders. Fantastic passer of the ball, calm, forward thinking and in my humble opinion should be in the final 26.

I'd say Wharton has a great shout now that he has a chance to impress Southgate in training considering who he is up against.

The most similar players to partner Rice would have been Phillips and Henderson, but neither made the cut.

Gallagher has played quite well there of late but has nowhere near the technical ability of Adam. Jones is 23, has 20 caps for U21 without being called up to the senior squad and is not a first choice for Liverpool. Mainoo played well on his debut but is a more attacking player with relatively little defensive ability. TAA is an option but is still defensively frail and cannot provide his forte long balls from out wide as a DCM. Unless Southgate decides to move Bellingham back to fit Foden into the centre of the pitch, it's Wharton's to lose on fit and ability (not that I'm biased!)
