I think part of the problem is that there remain a lot of unknown's at Man U - People have reported that Ratcliffe / Ineos money has a 25% stake in the club & that Ratcliffe will be running the football side of things - however in real terms what does that actually mean, if people are saying the underlying problem is the glazers (who still hold a large majority of the remaining shares) how much can Ratcliffe actually change ? Maybe Ratcliffe sees part of the problem as being that the Glazers needed someone on this side of the water with "skin in the game" to trust with their investment & guide them forwards, in that case then as you say it may well be a golden opportunity to lead Man U to the promised land - or Ratcliffe may find that they give him rope at the beginning but when serious decisions come along they are not so in tune with Ratcliffe game plan - Who knows? DF , with a dozen or so years in the same position at Palace, well thought of by all who surround him, largely a good track record, should he move ? Does DF know Dan Ashworth, can he see himself working with him & in what capacity as it would seem he would be his line manager - Would DF see it as a stepping stone to Dan Ashworths job? I guess it comes down to how willing he is to allow himself to be seduced by Ratcliffe & his vision of the future - Or is this all BS made up by journos who think that because SAF is Scottish & DF is Scottish that constitutes a recommendation ?

It’s messy at United at the moment for sure. But Radcliffe will be running the football side of the operation, so the Glazers will be less relevant going forward. It’s a new beginning for them, and Ashworth coming in is a sign of their intent. I think you could view DF’s potential role as a huge opportunity rather than a poison chalice. In any event, the point I was making is that DF is clearly more highly thought of by Radcliffe and co than he is by some on here.

In contrast to the Telegraph story suggesting that United had distanced themselves for a move for Freedman, Ed Aarons in the Guardian is today reporting the likelihood that they will move for Freedman and also that he is open to the move.

Its not easy to jsut find a bargain for a top 4 club. If you want to be competing for trophy's, you cant afford to give a player half a season to find their feat. Its one thing plucking a very good championship kid, and hoping that they can perform in the bottom half of hte prem. Its another hoping they can help you win the prem.

Here are the notable permanent signings we've made since DF returned to the club. I've grouped them into whether, in my opinion, they've been good, bad or whether the jury is still out Fees are taken from transfermarkt.com which displays them in Euros. Good Signings Cheikhou Kouyate - €10.70 Jury Still Out Chris Richards - €12m Bad Signings Alex Sorloth - €16.00m
That works out to around £206m total expenditure over a 5 year period. Considering that we could probably sell Olise, Eze, Guehi, Andersen and Doucoure for more than that amount now shows how well he's actually done under difficult financial circumstances. He has made very few missteps when spending significant funds on a player, with Sorloth only being the definite mistake in my view and even with him we basically got our money back. I don't actually particularly like Freedman personally. He was my favorite player growing up in the 90s and I felt a weirdly personal sense of betrayal when he left us to join Bolton and then, later, reported us for the Cardiff thing. However, I think to suggest that he isn't an extremely valuable asset to our club is naive to say the least.

These lists keep on coming out without any of the obscure youngsters that haven't/won't/ will possibly make it. Probably because they are so obscure no one knows anything about them.
