News of Forest wanting to sign Johnstone for £15m does make you question why they didn't just sign Henderson for the £15m/£20m we paid for him in the summer. They'd already had him on loan, so you'd have thought it would make sense. The obvious reason they didn't is that they didn't think he was worth it. He is in my eyes very poor value for money and significantly overrated. I would far rather we sell him than Johnstone.

The Goalkeeper spot is a funny one. It seems (Unless your name is A.Ramsdale) possession is 9/10s of the law.

If SJ hadn't gotten injured, then he'd still be No.1. But he did and Henderson came in in his place who hasn't really done anything wrong.
So SJ, who I agree is the better all round 'keeper is left to wait for his chance again.

I’ve I were Sam Johnson I would slip something into Henderson’s water bottle are pay somebody like thomkins or Jairo to have a bit of a ‘heavy’ challenge on Henderson in training to nobble him, nothing major just enough to give SJ his place back.

I’m not normally an advocate for the darker arts but needs must and we need our best keeper between the sticks asap.

Tend to agree with your take on this.

Johnstone's amongst the best I've seen at Palace. He has such a complete set of skills for the modern game. He perhaps has a slight weakness at controlling his area - I don't think he's really the full sweeper keeper but he's excellent all round really.
Henderson's probably on a par with Guaita - who was good but had similar weaknesses. Crosses and high balls seem his issue - which is a problem for us as our centre backs are not the best at dealing with crosses or the high ball either. Hence, the conceding of goals from corners etc. Reflex saves I'd put Johnstone slightly ahead but distribution I'd put Johnstone far ahead.

If you look at their stats, neither fares too well in terms of save percentages and goals conceded versus expected goals conceded. Both appear to be in the bottom 25% of prem keepers over the last year or so - depending which source you go by!

Happy with both I think Johnstone was having a bit of an unconvincing spell before he got injured and Henderson took his chance well although I'd agree that Johnstone has looked more assured at times.

The idea that a goalkeeper can just go through a player and get the ball when he's player standing on him is a myth. Henderson was fouled against Arsenal got a bit of rough press IMO. There would have been a VAR check at the other end at least.

I don't think either are as good as Guaita.

IMO - Henderson has been very disappointing - was expecting more..!!

Coincides with a period of the defence looking uncharacteristically shakey.!!

For that reason Johnstone number 1 for me at this point in time..!!

I agree with the consensus that Johnstone looks the better keeper and inspires more confidence. But some of the criticism of Henderson has been a bit over the top.

According to Alan Nixon we’re in talks with Forest to sell Johnstone for £15m now. It would be a real shame to lose him as I think he’s class, especially to a team we’ll be battling with to stay up…

If he does go - I guess we’ll have Henderson in goal for a while now. I must say it’s a thought that doesn’t excite me. Let’s hope he gets better in time. Just feels like the club are letting the better keeper go, which would seem a really strange call. Let’s see what tomorrow has in store.

Absolutely baffling to sell Johnstone to a direct relegation rival and leave ourselves with one senior goalkeeper who has a questionable injury record.

Even assuming it's true about him wanting to move back up north, surely we need to keep him until the summer.

The second he leaves Henderson is going to get injured.

It now appears that Forest are to buy the Keeper from Strasburg . That should end their interest in Johnstone, For what it is worth i think Johnstone is by far a better goalkeeper than Henderson, and i would hope that we do not make the same mistake of 50 years ago when we got rid of John Jackson for Paul Hammond/Tony Burns absolute criminal at the time
