Yes, thanks for letting us know we're all stupid. It's not like the team is playing dog poo in front of our own eyes. Cool heads would and will sack Roy when they analyse the performances. That's the life of a football manager. Roy knows it too. Who said you are all stupid? The team is playing as well as it can, given who is available. If you think just playing some of the promising youngsters would improve things, I don’t. It could do great damage to their confidence. A change could be made. I don’t rule it out, but it would be done very reluctantly and only after some long hard thinking and with a replacement lined up.

When the teamsheet went up for Arsenal, that should have been the defining moment for replacing Roy. Definition of insanity confirmed and not surprisingly we were completely outclassed both on the pitch and in the dugout. Just having watched Sheffield United play today, they were fighting for a win and under Roy we will be defeated before the whistle even blows and so his departure will be done. The game plan for the season of installing Roy, thereby minimising You could say in hindsight it was all so predictable, but even if it was just a mere probability, it seems today there is no plan B - so no wonder the Homesdale Fanatics have lost patience - as have many of us. Its not rocket science; I don't know the finer points of the internal club dynamics, but to the outsider it has "Amateur Hour" written all over it! Edited by radicalsteve (21 Jan 2024 4.20pm)

You are simply wrong - Roy is not doing a pragmatic job - his making a complete pigs a@se out of getting the best of a squad that contains undoubted ability and potential. Reason he’s doing that is that he stubbornly and more recently arrogantly sticks with proven mediocrity / substandard players over the potential and ability he has available. Look at yesterday Hughes and Schlupp were woeful again..!! He brings on his oldest most experienced mediocre player a centre half at that when we’re 3-0 down - who then proceeds to give away 2 further goals - Roy’s response after the game - we should have protected the result - what result we’re 3-0 down..!! Then confounds his comments even further by saying - we bought the youngsters on but was too much for them so the result got away from us - when it was his most experienced mediocre player that he bought on for a current England centre half that gave away the 2 additional goals..!! I just don’t get how that is down to the youngsters - that’s just plain poor game management and tactics..!! On the youngsters Ahamada proved the potential is there by producing the best moment of the game for us with a great run - demonstrating all that Roy is missing and refusing to give a chance. That’s not to mention Franca, Ozoh etc.. Nope the likes of Hughes and Schlupp are rubbish every week - but he still stubbornly plays them - that’s why we are in this mess..!! So how you can say Roy is doing a pragmatic job is beyond me - his stubbornness and arrogance knows no bounds and until he goes this will continue..!! COYP I disagree. Hughes and Schlupp might not be top 6 quality but they are both experienced professionals. Who do you think is better who is also fit? Ozoh is going to be an important player for us but needs to be introduced in a sensible way. Franca looks out of his depth at the moment and too big a risk. Ahamada will probably get more time in the coming games. Roy isn’t stubborn. He simply knows a bit more about how to manage a season than the average fan.

In fairness to Roy, I thought his post-match interview on BBC was excellent - all the more so given the circumstances. I think he should stay to the end of the season. Furthermore, I think the board should make that commitment immediately - to end uncertainty for Roy, for the team and for the fans. The situation is calling out for a statement of intent from SP, and he should demonstrate leadership by making it forthwith. Backing Roy is both the best practical decision and the ethical decision. There are few virtues greater than loyalty.

Aside from the awful boring football the most depressing thing is that it’s still January and we’re all wishing the season was over. We started with a sense of optimism after keeping Eze and Olise despite the bizarre transfer window. Accepted they’ve both been injured but it would have been nice to have enjoyed a season with them playing before their big money moves. We will limp along with Roy in the dugout until the summer as long as he beats Sheffield United in 10 days time. We will probably survive because the 3 who came up are not PL standard and Everton and Forest are being hammered by the PL. Because we are long suffering fans we will cling to the hope that work will start on the new stand, an exciting young coach will be appointed, and the money we get from selling Olise and Guehi will be spent more wisely than was the case this past summer. COYP! Oh and the yanks will sell to someone who is prepared to invest in the club….. Edited by Palacesince64 (21 Jan 2024 2.51pm) And in 5 years we will still be in the PL, fighting for a place in Europe, enjoying good cup runs and all of this will be forgotten. Or we will be in the Championship trying to build a team of youngsters ready to be the “team of the 30s”. Both would be fun.

With you on this one. Obviously, results ultimately dictate the fate of a manager, but putting up daft banners and whining won't help. The next game could be pivotal as to who will be in charge in the near future. I hope Roy can rescue us and himself once again because he does not deserve all the criticism. I agree.

There are few virtues greater than loyalty. I don't agree with much of your post. There is one virtue greater than loyalty and that's integrity. And Roy should show some and resign after all these turgid, unimaginative performances that would only be acceptable if we were winning. The life is being sucked out of our club.

Ahamada will probably get more time in the coming games. Roy isn’t stubborn. He simply knows a bit more about how to manage a season than the average fan. Not asking you to agree with me..!! But Roy is stubborn - always has been going back to his England days - you only need to look at his response after being sacked following the Iceland debacle to see that - his response I’m no longer England Manager so why do I need to face the press..!! Recently he’s become even more stubborn - bordering on arrogant - he’s press conferences and post match comments becoming more nonsensical - some bordering on the bizarre and the unfathomable..!! So according to your philosophy Hughes and Schlupp have the right to play because they are “experienced professionals” - so using/applying the same philosophy Tomkins should play ahead of Guehi because he is more experienced - is that honestly what you are saying/suggesting..!!?? If so my question is are you Roy..?? All this “experienced professional” thing is a nonsense - if you’re good enough you’re old enough - Jude Bellingham is 20 years of age - main man for Real Madrid and arguably the best midfielder in the world..!! If he were at Palace playing under your suggested philosophy under Roy he’d probably still be playing for the u21’s..!! The frustration is there is clear and obvious talent and potential being overlooked and held back by Roy - precisely for the reason you have stated - because so called more “experienced professionals” are being selected week in and week out - despite how poorly they perform and the subsequent/associated results..!! That’s why you are wrong and that’s why Roy has got to go..!! COYP
