It would appear to me that the board have made a decision to mark time this season and plan for a forward movement from next season wether for financial constraint or awaiting the availability of a manager or new owners to take us forward.
Problem has been in doing so the performances on the field have been uninspiring leading to the fans disappointment. Fans need someone to blame some go for the manager some for the CEO some for the Director of Football some for the Shareholders. Either way it is always what happens on the field which irks fans most and they build a case against someone to vent their frustrations. Nothing a few wins won’t put right.
We have to accept we don’t have owners who want to risk chasing the holy grail so under the circumstances we just have to accept that our progress will be slow.
To me our main problem has been the injuries to our most influential players in what is a thin squad , without flair players you can only play predictable football which is not very entertaining. I cannot see the Board at this time in the season deviating from the plan they will probably top up the squad to ensure survival which if the players achieve on the field then any talk of disharmony will be irrelevant. Fans will always moan about something such is life.COYP

Pretty much sums up my train of thought.

I've referred to it before, but the thing that has most wound me up about this season is the BS from Parish about a Top Ten finish.

That's just an insult to the fans intelligence.

It is within the realms of possibility that this was in riposte to a question addressed to him and reflected his aspiration for the club.
If he had replied that he would be content to finish between 11th and 14th, where we have finished in recent seasons, verbal paraffin would have been hurled in his direction.

I agree with the post that mentioned that Parish has hit the glass ceiling, this much seems obvious to me.
Looking to the near future, and considering the thin nature of the squad, who would be attracted to the manager's role? What does Parish have to offer any future incumbent?
Although it's clear I'm not a fan of the type of football Roy espouses, Parish can be most grateful that Roy has served for what will be five plus seasons, and provided a lower mid-table finish for each of those, dishing up a mediocre thin gruel that so far has ensured our PL position. I guess the philosophy is if needs be and it gets the job done.
We haven't moved on, Parish can't attract the finance that will make a difference to the playing side, and frankly we're no better a side from when Pulis was manager.
It is what it is...

But with Chelsea, United and Newcastle having distinctly underwhelming seasons, it, and more, was well within our grasp had the board i.e. Parish acted more effectively. 40 million on three players who have totaled 4 Premier League appearances (and that only due to injury) is an appalling waste of money for a club our size

Wasn't this statement from Parish made before we had the series of injuries we have suffered. If we had been able to field our best 11 for more than just 30 minutes I personally don't think we would be in the position we are.

I feel quite a few have a narrow view of what the issues are. Fact is Palace haven't sold many... if any... players for a decent amount, we have a stadium that needs substantial upgrading, investors aren't jumping at Palace because it'll take a ton of investment and quite a few years before seeing any return, the Academy doesn't magic decent players straight away, we've had injuries albeit sometimes due to Roy's relentless rigidity of playing the same players with no subs, to attract a manager we have to have investors willing to part with money whilst staying in the confines of FFP, Parish holds a good amount of voting power, we have American investors with God knows how many other sports ventures that they'd rather spend their time on, I believe we do have a moderately decent squad but we have a manager who players 7 defensive players, a defender as a midfielder, doesn't like young players, will play the same negative ball with the same line up every week. I don't blame the board for this. People have to be realistic with expectation, what is that expectation? Look at the other teams around us with exceptional spending power.

I feel we need to sell Olise and Guehi because it will give the club some money to buy more than 2 players and they'd then have no excuse. Before now, our wage bill has been a big issue.

According to who? You? I agree the football is not great but if we stay in the division which I think we will I'm happy to write off this season. Players dont have their hearts in it? Thats just made up crap. Many players likely to leave in the summer? Thats a bad thing? Make up your mind. I thought you just said the football was dire and their hearts weren't in it. Surely then players leaving is a good thing? As for problems in the boardroom, I really cant see how that is the case when the current shareholders went into this knowing what they'd get out of it and that Parish was going to run the club day to day. So whats changed?

Just giving my personal opinion that's all.
You don't agree and that is fine.
You might think of being a tad more polite in your responses though.

Having looked at your profile, I'm surprised you're the same age as me. You must remember the decade+ we spent in the Championship, Edgeley Park, Hillsborough etc?

All you have to do is look through the current Championship and League One tables and see numerous clubs with bigger stadiums and fanbases and a more successful history than us, who would bite your hand off to be where we are today- which by the way is the most successful period in our history.

There is an assumption from some that we should automatically be finishing higher in the table each season, without considering there are 19 other clubs in the division also trying to do the same. Perhaps we should overspend like Everton and Forest have?

Football is a results driven business and results will always take priority over entertainment. Without Eze and Olise on the pitch at the same time, we simply don't have the quality to play any other way than being gritty.

We're going through a minor rough patch which will not jeopardise our PL status this season. There is no need to get your pants in a twist.

The issue - which I think we're all feeling - is the general boredom of being a consistent mid table team with very little excitement. It's what Charlton had 20 years ago and is just the reality of the situation - that's not the boards fault.

Good luck with the protest.

2 wins at home all season isn’t “ a minor rough patch” by any stretch of the imagination!

I agree Parish can’t walk the talk, in 2015 when then new investors arrived he was saying just that !
