For me, it isn’t a case of a lack of progression, rather a very very slow rate of progression, almost not able to be seen by the naked eye. We are 3 or 4 signings away from a really strong first team and I don’t recall a time, not in my 30+ years as a fan anyway of us having 3 England Internationals in the squad. There are plans afoot to develop the stadium, which has always been more of a complicated process than it would be with other teams due to the location of the Stadium and the many parties involved in its development, be it directly or indirectly. We have a great academy, which will attract top, young players and has provided us with some talented players (Mitchell, Ozoh, JRS etc) . Bar a disaster, we will likely drag ourselves over the finish line in a low-midtable position, which is the low end of where we should expect to finish. We are still (believe it or not) an attractive proposition for new signings, purely by our Premier League and London status.

I would love to see us towards the top end of the table, in Europe etc however the reality of that is, it is so risky, in terms of the investment needed in the squad to have the depth to play the additional games. I’d rather us be in our current position, flirting with mid-table mediocrity (albeit while looking over our shoulders at the relegation spots), than seriously regressing like the likes of Leicester (remember 2015?), Southampton, Leeds, Middlesborough, CHARLTON (less recent but still a tragic example).

We can compare ourselves to the likes of Brighton, but it could easily go very wrong for them.
And with regards to Parish, better the devil you know!

In broad brush strokes, I think the past 10 years we have wavered from solid fairly conservative managers like Pulis to try something more radical, characters like De Boer - back to the orthodox with Hodgson; try something radical with Viera and it wobbles so, back to the consevative Hodgson...

A progressive more innovative approach never gains traction and so a rather pedestrian approach to steady the ship gets hastily reimplemented. I think any progressive manager we approach will want (and need) the chance to experiment across a season or more and finances won't allow that.

Wrong management . As a business I think the investors have had a steady return. So good business in some eyes. For the more elaborate gambler we could have gun hoe and s*** or bust. I would of def gone the latter
