Yes you are right Badger, I was on a rant last night and especially fed up that so many fans were pointing the blame purely at Roy.

Who was he meant to bring on to change the game last night. Ahamada or Franca. He tried one and it did nothing. I doubt the majority of our players on the bench are championship level at best.

Many could see the shortcomings after the summer transfer window and that it wouldn't take too many injuries to leave us in a bad way. That's happened, as inevitable as when we only had one striker and SP came up with 'what if the sun doesn't rise' comment.

Overall SP has been a great Chairman, best in my time. But there seems to be a malaise or a feeling of complacency in the Board. The amount of time it took to announce Roy as manager, made it feel like others had been sounded out and turned it down. The decision taken to ask Roy as he was a safe pair of hands and we could get away with kicking the can down the road again.

One left back for what I think is now the 3rd season, 2 right backs who should be cover at best, only 2 strikers for a year, one of these not of the required standard and we didn't get anyone in for fill Zaha's position.

Of our recent signings, there has to be serious doubts whether Ahamda, Franca, Ebiowei or Plange will ever make it as this level. We needed some players for now and didn't get them.

Sack Roy and who do we bring in, without significantly investing in the squad that will give us better chance of staying up? Potter - no, will need time, okay if we want to go down and rebuild.

The Board have put us in this risky position and they should acknowledge some responsibility for it. But they won't. SP will just announce that Roy has left by mutual consent, thank him for his efforts and we will bring in the next hapless guy, who will again be fooled into thinking there is a decent transfer budget. If he keeps us up, he'll still be facing next season with one left back and the news that Nathan Ferguson is close to fitness and we won't need a new right back. Oh, and Schlupp is a decent first choice left sided midfielder.

What do we do? If we can't spend money, then perhaps we need to sell one or two of our prize assets this January and spend every penny of it on the areas of the squad that need addressing. Because if we go down, then we will be selling every one of them for far less than we would get now.

Well Roy earns a good salary so time for him to earn it and turn it around.

Hodgson kills all joy for the game with his tactical approach, and, with the benefit of hindsight, the fans can't be fooled twice by false promises and Parish BS. We've been here before and witnessed the abysmal football it produces. Then it was enough to keep us in 14th, not so this time round. The fans know this, no amount of PR spin can say otherwise.
It's been a slow and steady grind just to tread water, indications are that the PL adventure has entered its final phase. Maybe Parish is thinking short term loans will fix it till next season...

Roy is symptomatic of the current issues at the Club. He was reappointed because the Chairman has no ambition other than to cling on to Premier League status and to build a huge stand to act as his 'legacy.'

I have always said that the stand will never happen under the current ownership structure and I wonder now if we will survive this season.

I don't blame Roy for the overall situation, that is down to Parish. Even last night he was babbling on about maybe a loan player in Jan as the squad looked ok, Parish lacks the pockets to own and the skill to run a top flight club.

But Roy does get the blame for tactics so put of date that last appeared in the 1980 ladybird book of football tactics, a refusal to play anyone he doesn't fancy sticking to his old slow warhorses and his total.lack of plan B.

But who would want to manage us right now we struggled to find a manager to replace Viera and will struggle again (and so will just appoint Paddy.)

I'm usually the most optimistic "I'll back the manager til the end" kind of person but Roy has to go. His heart isn't in it, it's likely not good for his health, lost the dressing room and fans and we are playing the most boring football I've seen for a while. My fiancee sat and watched the game with me last night, who isn't a PAalce fan and even she said we have "no oomph". She wouldn't let me change the channel either, anything would have been better than watching that performance.

I imagine because of the short term nature of his contract, letting him go won't cost a bomb, so do it now, get someone in for January and back them with the signings we need.

We are seriously lacking in right back, left back, centre mid, left wing and striker positions, with a paper thin squad and no one (maybe Olise and Eze when fit aside) who can grab the game by the scruff of the neck and make something happen.
