Him and Clint didn’t like each other apparently.

I think that did used to show on the pitch sometimes, I loved Clinton, but you could see Freedman’s frustration as well as the crowd when he kept getting caught offside

Some of the highly subjective views about Doug on here are risible.

THe same DF who played right up to the whistle for us a striker - scoring with 3 mins left at Stockport to save us, for instance?

The same DF who, during admin period when managing one of the junior sides, was personally paying out-of-pocket for driving lessons for one of the lads on the team?

The same DF who again reportedly, during the admin period was noted as shopping around local firms trying to strike the best deal for grass seed to sow and repair some of the practice pitches in Beckenham?

The same DF who came back after the promise(s) of management at Bolton failed to blossom and got on with task of finding and growing talent in SE25

Sentiments such as: "I thought he was arrogant because he waved his arms about and seemed like he was whining when he was up front for us"...just not worth a look-in

I like how you've managed to turn him leaving us halfway through a season to go to Bolton into a positive there. How gracious of him to accept another paid role here after running out on us didn't pan out for him.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

Yes but these are the same people who previously hired somebody with no footballing experience whatsoever as the DofF, Ed Woodward.
Now there is a truly dislikeable personality in football.

Also, the three syllables in his name all rhyme. I always found that distasteful.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Popular reporting suggests that favourite for the job at United is Paul Mitchell currently at Monaco.

So, don't fret lads, it looks like Dougie wil be around for a while yet.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I think it was hugely positive for him to leave for Bolton, both for him as an individual and for us as a club and we have reaped great rewards from the fact that he came back and worked dligently.

A lot of sentiment along the "Dougie was a traitor" lines is pathetically adolescent

My mates and I used to refer to the lead actor in 'The Wicker Man', 'The Equaliser' etc as "Ed Triple-wood".

And we would wonder why none of us could get a girlfriend.

I don't think the meaning of the word loyalty is in good terms with DF. I will never forget the way he left for Bolton. But football (although there is a lot of sentiment around) is mainly business. He was reemployed by SP to do a job which according to the results he has done well. Its up to P to keep him if he wants him so much. And let us not forget that MUTD is a job of high risk. No results and you are instantly fired!

He doesn’t have any loyalty let’s be honest….if he can see what he thinks is a better opportunity he will be off like a rat up a drainpipe

I have to admit to not particularly caring if he does go. I've never thought much of our recruitment - finding us amongst the worst at transfers in the division. I would suggest we've had two decent transfer windows out of the last twenty. But we've also had at least ten really poor ones. Not a great hit rate in my opinion. Even hoping for an average transfer window to deal with obvious shortcomings seems like too much for our transfer team to deal with. When you consider it reasonably - it's pretty poor.
