Having lost out on Virgil van Dijk we had a similar opportunity in 2018 with a certain youngster called Haaland. However, as with VVD we turned him down, this time in favour of our goal machine Ayew.

Source comes from the Mail so who knows but hilarious if true.

That’s an interesting story, but there has to be some doubt if Haaland would be as prolific at Palace without any service.
It’s a graveyard for strikers.

True, but I’m pretty convinced he would still have been a damn sight better than what we had.

Sammie Szmodics is an attacking midfielder who scores goals.I believe he cost Blackburn £2.5 Mill when they signed him from Peterborough. One of his outstanding qualities is his tremendous workrate.

James Justin is a right-back by trade but is comfortable at left-back and has played a number of games in this position.

Some interesting options here, and more likely to be within our budget than other names we have been linked with.
The two that stand out for me are Clarke and Justin.
We were linked with Clarke in the summer, and I suspect his price will have gone up now as he’s having a very good goalscoring season from the left wing , finally looking like he can achieve his early potential.
He’s pacy with a good shot and would definitely give us more options on the left of our forward line.
Justin was outstanding at full back prior to his injury, impressing defensively and offensively.
Now he’s back I don’t know if he has recovered his previous form, but I can see the appeal of bringing him in.
However, we don’t need another Ferguson so should get a money back guarantee!

Excellent post. Currently we have no natural width, injuries noted. No natural wingers, and no overlapping fullbacks. The fullbacks dare not cross the half way line in support lest they get caught out. A fullback needs pace and stamina to get up and down throughout a game. It's not the current manager's style to press too many players forward at any one time. I've noticed that when the ball is put into the box sharpish Edouard does know where to position himself and stick out a leg to try and get on the end of things.
Our build up is too predictable, and we don't get behind the opposition fullbacks to turn their defence.

What do you think Mitchell was doing on the edge of the box to score?

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Did you not notice that this happened AFTER we bought on a third centre half, which meant he was covered behind when he attacked?

Indeed. Also it was late in the game, so he probably felt that he could get forward.
