I would imagine that the people pulling the string will not be concerned with converting radical Islam to a moderate belief system. Their concern will be preventing a radical government or organisation from obtaining a nuclear weapon to threaten the stability of the world. Hamas, who were obviously aided by outside agencies, have struck at a time when Israeli relations with Saudi were making progress. This was obviously deliberate. It could get very ugly, and we must hope that the conflict remains conventional and contained. In the short to medium term that is undoubtedly true but that still doesn’t mean it has to be done this way. Understandable anger and a desire for revenge are no substitute for cool heads and objective thinking. Especially when there is a very real risk of escalation as a direct result. The timing doesn’t look coincidental either. As you point out the negotiations with Saudi we’re looking promising but Israel was also consumed by Netanyahu’s attempts to throttle their Supreme Court which has created internal strife with reservists threatening not to serve, thus the eyes were off the ball.

Indeed he was, a passer-by, just using an ATM, other stabbings in the Hotel for our poor illegal boat immigrants. more will happen.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Whether drugs or alcohol was is yet to be known. I heard both Rabbis and Imans pleading on Radio 4 earlier for people not to rush to conclusions about incidents like this.
