We're just going to have to muddle through Saturday and hope to keep a clean sheet. Anything better than a loss will be a bonus. Would like to see Doucoure, Hughes and Ayew in Midfield and then Schlupp, Rak-Sakyi and Mateta up front. It's probably going to be Riedewald in midfield with Ayew on the wing isn't it but there's really not much creativity there at all.
We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold... |

It's not tho is it, its money generated by the club, mainly due to the TV deal the premier league has managed to secure, due to the huge fanbase the big clubs have. Let clubs negotiate their own tv deals and we wouldn't have a tenth of the money we have to spend. And the boards buisness in the summer was terrible and yes we can call them out for it.

No one has mentioned Ahamada. Wasn't he bought as an AM? If so, wouldn't he be an obvious replacement for Eze?

I predicted several weeks ago that EZE would pull a hamstring trying too hard to make up for a lack of teammates. This is Parish. Lack of players = more injuries = losses = loss of confidence = poorer performances = lessening of players market values = less money = excuses not to buy more players = less club success = good players not wanting to come = buying desperate players who will come = non delivery of performance = lack of players = more injuries….etc Parish isn’t as smart as some people think. Edited by Oddball2021 (04 Oct 2023 1.56am) Be careful you will get ridiculed for slating parish on here. To many if his lovers are on here up his f*****g a***. Just because he apparently saved us even though there was more than one person that saved the club. Doesn’t give him the right and make him exempt from criticism. Some pepole have there head buried to far in the f*****g sand and don’t see there is a problem Edited by EagleAlan78 (04 Oct 2023 9.31pm)

It’s fair enough saying we haven’t got much to spend but when we buy 4 players for up to £48m and none of them play you have to consider whether the money has been spent wisely.

You and others are calling for funds beyond our regular income to be spent and questioning the way we have spent what we have. It’s always easy to criticise from the comfort of your armchair when every player you want is available at the price you can afford. Much more difficult to actually do it. We only know the deals we did. We don’t know any of the background reasoning nor any of the deals we tried to do, which failed.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

These are supposed to be the top people in their field who are looking at players to bring into the club, not some fans off the street. If I spent £48m and provided the same value for money return in my profession I wouldn’t be employed for long. When you have as little money as us, paying £23m for a player who could potentially be a star is not going to cut it. That’s just a Chelsea style approach which we can’t afford.

Agreed, although I hope it turns out well with Franca. The one thing I thought at the time was how come the likes of Napoli, Roma, Sevilla, A Madrid , Porto et al didn't have a look? Perhaps they did, who knows. Perhaps we pulled off a major coup, but as you say, we can't go round risking £20 plus million here and there on an unknown quantity every transfer window.
