7 changes and go from 2 down to 2 up not a bad night yet people on here need to find fault , Matty gets a hat trick then gets a slap in the face from so called fans because its only Plymouth , better balls was put in for the strikers to finish , took AJ 16 games to score for us then a hat trick rest is history , so give players credit for the win , So get behind the team no matter who we are playing and who plays and enjoy a over due cup run , i feel it in the water , COYP

Only seen highlights so will not criticise any player, but Mateta must start Sunday. He can shoot hard. It's Wolves - never a better chance to build his confidence.
And well done Roy you reinforced your point to Dougie and Steve.

Watching Eze last night made me realise what a good judge of player quality Lanzo Ad is.

Absolutely sublime. He is soooo good.

Did anyone not see how good he was from the moment he arrived? It's like Olise, some players you can see within minutes that they are absolute class.

The worrying thing is that last night (to an extent) proved how vulnerable we are if we lose him. It was the same in preseason, when he wasn't on the pitch we offered little to nothing.

I only saw the highlights but JRS didn't look like he had much of an impact and probably could have done more to prevent both goals in terms of closing down. If he's still here I'd start JPM on Sunday as his confidence should be up and Edouard just doesn't look to me like his heart is entirely in it.

Going back to that thread asking why Roy doesn't make more subs, this is the evidence of the obvious answer.

Those sitting on the bench, especially the midfield, are showing no evidence that they are good enough to compete with those in front of them who have had to bail them out.

We are paper thin - hopefully we can do something in the final days of the window.

Hardly you cant expect players to perform without run of games.

Swapping out the whole team as well doesn't help.

Roy is stubborn and has favorites it's that simple the same when he was in charge of England.

Just what does this say about Riedewald, Ahamada and Rak-Sakyi?

Riedwald has been here a long time and isn't considered good enough but Ahamada and Sakyi have a lot of hope invested in them.

This was a championship side and the contrast once they came off for first team picks was clear.

It shows nothing.

Riedwald was give a proper chance once and he looked good but Roy didn't like the way the player was so made him change style to suit him and look how that has worked out (Roy didn't fancy him from the start it was very clear)

The other two are young inexperienced.

Championship teams can be tough people think they will always be push overs and as I said before you switch out the whole team for people who don't really play expecting them to perform.

I remember when we only had one decent player. Now we have a whole team but you are complaining that it’s only one team.

We compete every Saturday against teams that have a squad full of decent players. How good our team was when we were playing scunthorpe 15 years ago is pretty irrelevant to our ability to compete in the Premier League. Hodgson agrees - see his statements saying that we're three or four good players short of a proper squad.

It's all been said about him but maybe, everything crossed, he'll be our le Tissier and is happy to stay.
Also as previously mentioned Edouard has a style of play that in some ways is like Berbatov in that he doesn't bust a gut Ayew-style so it looks as though he's not trying. Maybe we haven't, and won't, find a way of getting the best out of him but in the meantime he offers a different option to Mateta. He's not a target man/poacher but is better at running onto and with the ball.

Eze's talent has never been in question.

But when he first arrived my question was around whether he could really turn it on against the top teams.

Under Roy he has thrived, but I still think there is more to come from him.

He's carrying a lot of the creative burden at the moment, but once Olise and Franca are available I'm sure he will benefit from their presence.

I was at the game at the end were scored. I can confirm many of the comments. We started well and for 5 mins knocked it around as if it was training. They didn’t have a touch until they broke away got in a cross and we were behind. We couldn’t handle crosses all evening. Tomkins was misjudging them, Johnson missing them, Mitchell allowing them.

The team then looked as though they had not met one another, let alone not played together. Individually there are some ok players there who could plug a gap from time to time but together would not stand a chance in the PL.

I hoped that halftime would sort it out but within a minute we were 2 down to a great strike. Then we made the changes and everything was different. Eze has rightly been credited but Ayew also deserves praise. They could not cope with him either. The Plymouth defence crumbled as Eze, Ayew and Schlupp ran at them they backed off. All 4 goals were assists by those 3. Mateta looked awful up to then, unable to hold up the ball and passing to no one. When fed balls into channels to run on to, he was totally different.

What looked like being a painful night turned into a fun one. It’s not often you see 4 second half goals smashed in under your nose at an away ground! But the need to strengthen was clear.

The thing that concerned me most was the absence of Doucoure and Andersen.
