I used to hate The Little house on the Prairie, it was so nice it was unreal, it was hardly the Wild West, more like the woolie west Edited by monkey (23 Jul 2023 6.10pm) i heard that the original books were very gritty and raw. But the tv show gave it a makeover and all nice with apple pie. --------------------------------------------- i found this on t'internet What is the origin of the word sheriff? The modern word “Sheriff”, which means keeper or chief of the County, is derived from the Anglo-Saxon words “Shire-Reeve”. The Shire-Reeve, in the days of King Alfred the Great of England, in 871, was responsible for collecting taxes and enforcing the Kings Orders.

I read at least 2 of the books when I was a kid they are really aimed at children I wouldn't call them gritty but they were certainly not fluffy like the TV show.

Edited by PalazioVecchio (23 Jul 2023 5.03pm) The Golden gate bridge in San Francisco got its name not because of its colour but it was the gateway to prospectors coming over it to sell their gold

Gunsmoke was on for years - mainly Chester hobbling along "Marshall Dillon! Marshall Dillon!", and Miss Kitty displaying her heart of gold.
