Spurs didn't leave much space and we couldn't break them down. The same as against Everton and Wolves. Eze again struggled against better opponents. Olise was shut out for much of the game. I thought Wilf looked our only real threat. After some strong performances Ayew cut a frustrated man. Yes the ref was poor and yes Spurs used the dark arts to get over the line but I struggle to think of a clear chance we created all game.

It's hard to judge too much on this game as nothing was riding on it, but this was our first game against a big team since Roy came in and we looked no better than we did under PV. I think Roy lifted the squad, but I think we have to be realistic that whomever is in charge next season we are going to have plenty of games like this unless we invest in improving the squad.

How many chances did spurs have?

We caused them exactly the same amount of problems as they did us! we just couldn't live with their off ball skills.

We seem to have a relatively poor record against Spurs.

I didn't see that at all, we competed for every single second and were numerous moments away from the ball falling our way in their box.

Agree TP, our passing was generally good but Mitchell again went AWOL for the goal and Olise and Eze anonymous.

Bring back Brolin

Another game where we threw away a result with some slack defending.
We were mostly pathetic in the second half after a fluid first half, and the ref was diabolical just to add to the misery.

Not very enjoyable.

Think it was more down to whoever was playing in front of Mitchell that should have been covering the guy who crossed it. Mitchell had come in because the ball was on the right side and a long ball across meant the left midfielder should have helped him out? Ward was more at fault by not being closer to Kane. Typical Jane goal from a non noticing game by him :-(

We didn't. They hit the bar, SJ had to make a great one handed save and they scored. We had two tame efforts on target. Spurs weren't great, but second half in particular we offered almost nothing.

Their front players were very 'Narrow' and Mitchell was marking Richarlison. The ball was played out to Porro in acres of space on the right and Mitchell could not get close enough to block the cross.
Because of Richarlison's 'Narrow' position, Mitchell had some ground to cover when Porro collected the ball.
I am not criticising Mitchell's positioning, I am questioning how Porro was afforded all that space on the flank.
The cross was not well defended at all.As with corners we were found vulnerable in the air yet again.

No Surprises 1 Spurs beat Palace and Kane Scores. No Surprises 2 Palace reach a level of secure points to avoid relegation and they produce a largely ineffective performance. So is Roy the manager going forward ? Largely I feel if he gains 9 points in the next 3 games then Parish should be bighting his hand off to be involved next season. However if we produce 4 or so points then I would like to see a different manager for next season. Like us to throw the dice as no disrespect to Roy he looks no different to Roy version 1 , Alladyce, Pulis, Viera and Pardew. He will get the squad getting about 2-3 decent games and then a couple of poor ones if that and frankly there are many managers who can do this. If we don't throw the dice we will never have a chance to move forward with a manager who might push us more forward. Think the next 3 games will ultimately see if Roy can get a complete tune out of frankly a squad which will be largely the same next season. Sounds harsh but if you look at many of those managers in the past we haven't really finished strongly. If Roy can buck the trend them sign him up. COYP !!

It was ward not Mitchell.

Spurs have an actual target we don't. Speaking to a bloke formerly associated with club ownership he said no player wants to go all out and risk spending the summer in a cast. Game probably reflected that.

One of those games. If we won then it wouldn’t have been undeserved. We matched them pretty much all over the park but unfortunately they have 1 of the best strikers in the world and we don’t.

I said in another thread that Roy would be daft to take on another full season, and I've seen nothing to change my mind. With Roy we'll kick the can further down the road, finish in our niche spot around 12th place, and then we can discuss the next season, making the same discussion points over again. A bit like Groundhog Day funny enough. As things stand, this is probably as good as it gets.

If so then frankly that is really poor.
