In years to come I think we will learn that Mr Parish & Mr Textor had words in Nov/ Dec over bolstering the team in Jan. Likely Mr Textor did not divulge he was putting Investment into another club in France. One does wonder how long Mr Parish will stay at Selhurst & if he sells up to the investors or one of the investors decides to offload one of the clubs they own to ploughing more funds into a better ROI Summer window is going to be huge nightmare in getting the right coach that potential new coming players will want to jump on board with - another rebuild phase moving out old timers / under performers & bringing in new individuals. The Lack of investment has created an avoidable situation ! Edited by waddy (29 Mar 2023 8.04am)

Why do you think that is? Because he is a lucky chairman whose style of serendipity management has paid off. Firstly he was extremely lucky enough to have a teenage wing wizard in the juniors who played a huge part in dragging us out of the Championship and secondly every gamble that he took in not replacing players paid off

I cannot recall his precise words, however he was not dismissive about the possibility of additions to the squad. Dear Willo, according to the press he stated ''We have a good squad, I think the players are very good, and I think we have a good points tally'' which contradicts what the manager was saying at that time, which was that we at least five players to bring the squad up to strength. I understand that you wish to support Parish and on that point we have to disagree as IMHO he is a Chairman/CEO who is just not up to the standards required to run a progressive EPL team, he lacks the skills and his controlling personality means he like to control everything and as consequence we may well be relegated this year(I sincerely hope not) but if we are then the blame is his and his alone.

To be totally honest I have no recollection of Vieira quantifying the players he believed we required. Steve Parish has been at the helm whilst we have been in the PL for 10 seasons and let us not forget where we were when he joined back in 2010.

Den, I'm going to own up as having two friends, one in particular, that know Parish very well. Interestingly, they have slightly different views on him. That doesn't make me privvy to any inside info at all - unfortunately ! But what I will say is this. He's going to be 60 in a couple of years. I don't think he will want to continue at Palace as he is today, beyond that. IF we stay in the Premier League, potentially his shares could be worth 10 times what he originally put in, plus of course he's been well paid in his ceo role. A good time to cash in. As for his capabilities, he's got the not to be underestimated collateral of having been at the helm for 10 years of Premier League football. But...I think he's had his fair share of luck down the years and I see signs that it's starting to run out. Added to that, the typical lifespan of a CEO is less time than he has had in the job. Is he getting stale ? - possibly.

Dear Willo, I have always accepted that 2010 achievement was appreciated but thats is 13 years ago and the signpost and guidepost to the future is made from what we do with a business today, not based on history, as we all know, the world is already littered with great past companies (British Midland Airways, Woolworth, C&A, Bury FC Etc) who because they did not innovate and move with the times it-eventually led to failure and they disappeared. Lets hope that will not happen to CP. PV press report attached. Attachment: Version 2.jpg (688.33Kb)

Dear Neillo, thanks for the insight, it is much appreciated and just to say, sometime ago when I was visiting Exmouth YC for University re-union there was a guy there from Sussex, I think. He claimed to be a friend and neighbour of CP and his insight was very much learning towards him be controlling and autocratic but as you say us mere mortals can only speculate on how we see it rather than making informed decisions. Kindest regards !

My dear Den Steve Parish is a very driven, focussed and astute individual, a man of erudition and wisdom and has steered the ship in sometimes pitchy waters with some aplomb.
