well this is a real shame. I don't mean it wasn't the right thing to do, but we were crying out for evolution and stability towards the ends of the Hodgson and I really hoped PV would bring it. In moments it looked like he had. But the powers that be are closer to what's happening behind closed doors and if they can see that the players aren't responding to PV's methods then it's only going to lead to one outcome.

Oh well, this is Palace, what did we expect?

A shame, but his curious tactics and inability to kick arse given some unacceptable player performances means that he has to carry the can. The manager always carries the can, players seem to get away with it. This current bunch need to look in the mirror and understand that they are responsible just as much as Vieira and a recruitment system that is haphazard at best.
Hindsight is a fine thing, but three things stood out for me:
Firstly the departure of Gallagher, a player who was miles above the rest in attitude, endeavour, and work rate. His professionalism was not replaced. Barring a few individuals we have a lazy gravy train riding team who are happy to do the minimum.
Secondly the shambles of the pre-season tour, that was a huge red flag that things weren't going well.
Thirdly, the departure of Derry. Just one of those things that suggested that all was not well behind the scenes.
I'm expecting Parish to get one of his mates in for the final set of games. Actually, there's a common denominator between the managers that have come and gone, a certain Steve Parish. Ten seasons, one billion revenue and nothing to show apart from an Academy. That will be Parish's legacy when we are relegated.

Bit of a mercy killing to be fair. He looked lost in recent games. A nice man but too laid back for the modern game. You watch other coaches in the touch line and they’re constantly coaching the team. He never looked at ease doing that. I suspect all was not well behind the scenes. There must have been questions asked about his team selection with Ahamada and Richards coming in and not getting a game despite our results.

Sky Sports speculating that Parish may have someone lined up but no one who supports Palace would be surprised if we don’t. Ah well. Onwards and upwards hopefully! COYP!

My Girlfiend who isint into football at all has watched a few games with me now and said the exact same thing to me last week.

A real pity. Can't help but feel he's been screwed over by the board on transfers this season (and the lack of) but there's been no fight in the team so perhaps a kick up the arse might help with a new manager.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

A top ranked academy though. Wouldn’t mind a couple of youngsters on the bench going forwards. Maybe they are there but PV was reticent to use them. The young lad who played left back against the pool disappeared but had a decent game. PV might be good with A class players but mid range not so good.

Agree with the comments that he has looked lost recently, and his post match comments have become repetitive.

Some suggesting that he should of been given more time after the Arsenal game as they are against the bottom 8, absolutely nothing to suggest that we would suddenly be a team turning them over, certainly not under Viera.

I wish him well, but I'm glad he's gone.

Just heard Darren Ambrose on the radio suggesting that the
sacking was warranted and pretty much confirming the Derry Everton story and the fact that Derry is still on the payroll.
Perhaps there were doubts about Vieira around the time he removed Derry from first team duty.
Parish is close to some of the older players and in times gone by used to get training ground info from the likes of Damo and Jedi.
This in part led to the removal of Warnock.
Some may think this is not a good thing, but clearly Parish wants to know what's going on and has his methods.

Was never sure Vieira was the right man for the job but how can you ask him to change the style of football and not back him sufficiently in the transfer market? Not signing a striker in January was unforgivable.

Who do we even bring in now? No more Pulis, Allardyce or Hodgson joker cards to play

He went one game earlier than I thought he would.

Let's be honest. Nothing suggested that he had a clue how to fix our goal scoring problems, so his departure was inevitable.

We are stuck with the players, so the manager is always sacrificed.

This is what happens when you won't or can't sign the players you need. It was obvious that what we had was not good enough.

Agreed. I'm usually the most optimistic of fans, but I just hope we have a decent enough squad left for the Championship next season.

Not backed enough by Parish et al. this season, hardly an advertisement for the next manager.

A shame as last season looked full of promise but we have been diabolical since this season began. Definitely the best move for the club to move PV on. He is completely out of ideas.
