Our highest tally ever would be 70pts. I predict that that would put us a tad higher than 8th place.

In the premier league I mean

Let’s try and get this into perspective a bit , we are currently 12th in the table and clear of the relegation zone. We are 4 points behind Liverpool and 7 points clear of the relegation zone,
We are currently 1 point better off at this stage of the season than we were last season and we’ve already played Man U and Chelsea and Newcastle twice
We have been hit hard by injuries and managed to grind out an undeserved point against a side bang in form , same as we did against Man U and Newcastle.

I totally understand the worries supporters have with out of contract players etc at end of season but I absolutely wholeheartedly trust Steve Parish and there will be a plan,

I can’t believe some of the comments on here , let that sink in we are a point better off this season than last season.

The worst thing is with our fan base , if we go and beat Brentford on Saturday (at the end of the day they are due a loss and we are due a win so it’s totally plausible )all you lot will start thinking we can make a late charge for Europe ! I can see the posts now , but we won’t , we will finish comfortably mid table and I will be more than happy with that!

I'm all or balance and am usually very glass half full.

The positives are that we've had a rough run, missing 2 important players haven't played well, but have still picked up a couple of points to keep us moving in the right direction.

The worrying part is how we have been playing, pretty clueless and devoid of any real passion.

We jsut need to hope that Pat can put a rocket up them.

I know we have good fixtures coming, but they are a way off yet. And at that point in the season all of those guys will be fighting for their lives.

Assuming that we'll most likely lose to Brentford, city, Brighton and Arsenal, IMO Its vital that we pick up 4 points from the Liverpool and Villa games. If not we are bang in trouble.

Agree with that, good post IMHO.

I'd look more towards an individual improvement in performances from the players before hoping for PV to put a rocket up anyone but for the fixtures you've highlighted (bold), I'd optimistically suggest there could be 5 points there. If we fail to get 3 we are very much in the proverbial as will PV's position as Palace manager be I suspect.

I’ve tried to resist giving my opinion - but I’ve been told it is more helpful to let out your frustrations than hold them in!!

Firstly, I’ve a been a season ticket holder for years…so lived all the highs and lows..

What upsets me about Palace - in no particular order

1. Creating pointless videos on the CPFC website about players throwing darts, America’s footballs, their likes and dislikes - stop wasting our time and use it more effectively - like showing the players how to take a throw in!!
2. Sick to death of hearing the same speech from PV. “The players need to be more clinical”. I’ve heard that for the last 3 months - so teach/coach them what this means.
3. Some of our players have over inflated egos. Yes, they might be talented in some areas, but goalkeeper aside - every other Brighton player on Saturday was better than ours.
4. Have a plan B!! Change the tactics, don’t be so predictable. For goodness sake, start using our January signings from kick off (like other clubs) and let’s see what all the fuss was about!
5. We are crying out for a ‘leader’. Someone with heart, who will shout at the players during a game, get them going! Bring back Macca!
6. The ground has never been so full of new, enthusiastic supporters - don’t lose them with our poor performances and lack of heart.
7. I have a feeling that Killian Phillips should have stayed and been given a shot. He has been excellent at Shrewsbury. I know it’s not the Premiership, but he is a complete workhorse - unlike anything else we have.

Ok…steam has come out the head..

Up the Palace!!

You are right. I've been keeping an Excel sheet of matches for the last 5 seasons with details of each game and a running total of points, clean sheets and table position.

After 22 games we had 24 points, were in 13th place and like this season had 5 clean sheets.

In 18/19 we had 22 pts with 8 clean sheets (didn't keep position stats that year)

in 19/20 it was 29 pts with 6 clean sheets and 9th position

In 20/21 it was also 29 pts but with only 4 clean sheets and 13th position.

Basically we're around where we usually are although like in the 19/20 season (Ayew's POTS year) our goals scored are on the low side.

If you think we’re better than all of those teams I’d love to have some of what you’re on.
The teams mentioned don’t have to field two keepers on the bench as we have had to do on a number of occasions this season.
Some of them have at least far better options in both full back positions, central midfield and up front.
In terms of genuine Premier League ability on a CONSISTENT basis we have Guita, Anderson, Guehi, Zaha and McCarthur when fit.
The jury is still out on Olise, Eze, Doucoure and Mitchell.
They’re hit and miss but could still make it if they step up consistency levels.
It’s too early to assess Richards.
Mateta and Edouard have shown nothing to indicate that they will be reliable goalscorers at Premier League level season upon season.
Ward, Clyne, Tomkins, Ayew dand Schlupp have all seen better days and are not long term solutions.
I’m not talking the club down but making what I consider to be a realistic assessment .
As to your point that if we beat Brentford the sentiment will change , I think you may be right.
That’s the fickle nature of being a football fan.

Agree 100% with this.

Anyhow I hope that has granted you some relief to about the day with improved zen

Funny - I too keep a spreadsheet running back 12 seasons! In the 18/19 season we were 14th after 22 games. It's the lack of goals - or more specifically the lack of a goal threat - that is so disappointing, even if we are in about the same spot we always seem to be at this time of the season.
