Maybe it turns out that Zaha's injury will be a blessing in disguise?

Scoring 5 without him is a pivotal moment for CPFC and shows that we don’t need him as much as many of us thought. I think we should withdraw the rumoured £200k per week offer from the table, particularly as he is now seemingly picking up regular injuries. Offer a 3 year £120kish deal as that’s probably more than what anyone else would offer anyway. Take it or leave it. He’s still our best player but we need to learn to cope without him at some point, and now might be a good time to pass the baton. West Ham is a sideways move so can’t see him bothering with all the upheaval. Newcastle would be a good move for him if they get to the CL, which I think they will. He’d have to accept being second choice to Saint-Maximin. Would love him to stay with us, but on our terms not, the reported £200k pw as I think that would cause disharmony within the club.

We saw yesterday that we have the attacking talent to make a difference. I'll go go as far to say that if Zaha was on the pitch and the ball was fed to him those goals wouldn't have happened, due to Zaha's habit of overplaying the ball. How refreshing to see Olise play selflessly and pick out his team mates with inch perfect passes.

It is without question the time for Wilf to move on, he has been a great player for the club, probably our best ever player, but he needs to move on, although i am sure he was delighted by the result, i wonder if a tinge of sadness about 5 goals, and not a part, i think all contract offers should be withdrawn and Wilf goes off to pastures new, with our hope that he gets a decent club.
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |

Wilf to get a decent club??? Evidently, not Newcastle as considered to be the biggest moaner in the Premiership!!

When he went off injured in the Leicester game the whole mood changed in the team and also the atmosphere within the ground fell completely flat - he had been playing extremely well and seemed integral to our great first half performance. Yet with the subsequent Leeds game that ‘loss’ was unnoticeable…to the extent that we played better without him…funny old game.

His body is failing him, of course £200k a week is far too much so it probably isn't true. That's £10m for one year. But imagine paying that if he's on the treatment table for half the year Maybe his agent trying to up the bidding by leaking these stories Love to have him here another year but have to be sensible, his salary needs to be going down not up The shop window is rapidly disappearing for Wilf - hamstring, now groin. He's a squad player for the teams he is rumoured to aspire to. They are not paying that kind of money for an injured player. Finally I think we are at the point we'd like to have him but we don't need to have him Spend some of that £200k a week on keeping Olise and Eze with new contracts

Being realistic now, much as I used to love him, where would he go? I wouldn't be at all surprised if he he is still with us at the start of next season.

I love Wilf. Maybe Wright was our best player ever, but Wilf is our most important player ever. He kept us up almost singlehandedly at times. He's a legend for us. That being said, I feel like our players are sometimes too deferential to him, always looking first to get the ball to Wilf, always sitting back and expecting him to score on his own. Defenders know this too. Since he's been out, it feels like we have a more balanced attack. And we've somehow managed to score 7 goals in 1.5 matches without Wilf. I know some of that is a fluke, but still. I'd still like Wilf to finish his career with us, but if we could have either AWB and Gallagher or Wilf, I'd seriously consider the former.
