I shan't miss him the problem is we are now light with forwards and were before this.

Wilf is injured but hopefully not serious, if he out for a few months we are in trouble. That just leaves us the goal machines Edouard and Ayew.

Still no problem we can also always promote one of the following

Rak Saki
Ebeiowei
Banks
Plange
etc.

I like Mateta (there I've said it). And I think he's been dealt a bum deal at this club somewhat.

Some players needs a run of games and the confidence that brings to perform and I think JPM falls into that camp. He started to get that at The end of last season, which coincidentally coincided with his best performances for us.

I'm not saying he's the next aguero - but he's not been given a decent opportunity IMHO. This season PV has inexplicably dropped him for Edouard - who was last seasons failure. I really wasn't expecting this. He's been limited to the bit part sub appearances and the odd start here and there. He's never going to show his best like this.

If he does leave, I hope he goes somewhere he'll play, I reckon he'll show us that he's more valuable that he looks atm, and we'll be wondering what went wrong.

PV witnesses Mateta in training and of course during a game.

Supporters can only form a judgement based on his performances on the field of play and the vast majority of his appearances in the PL have been from off the bench.
I suspect that in the main our supporters have concluded that he does not 'Cut it' in the PL at this juncture.

I see a player with a positive mental attitude on the pitch, encouraging his team mates and a player who keeps running and trying and not hanging his head akin to a despondent mule when matters are not going his way.

As I wrote, he's a character. And part of his character are the attributes you mention.

But...for a big man he's not strong in the air and looks to have issues with his spring and timing.

His hold up play needs a lot of improvement. He's not a reliable outlet when we're under pressure.

While he is a different kind of player from Edouard, I don't seem him as being worse or better than him. I don't rate either of them.

If he goes to Turkey then like Sorloth he may start banging them in…..in Turkey. But it’s a very different game to here.

Will he ask the Turkish fans to shout 'boom' when he scores?

Sørloth is banging them in Spain (Real Sociedad) at the moment (no. 6 with 8 goals.)

TBH Matetta is a giant who cannot head a ball has an awful first touch and on the field looks like a poor mans Dele Adebola . I think he would struggle in the Championship let alone the prem.He needs to be moved on

Cadiz interested too if you believe what you read! I tend not to but you never know.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

I think someone misheard "we're selling a turkey" as "he's going to Turkey". Proof I'm right comes from the deafening silence since the rumours of his departure started.

I agree with Stan Cummins. We are not in the business of being nice, JPM is not prem standard. Compared him with say Benteke, who’s hold up play was good, for a big man had decent close control, and could head a ball, JPM is not for us. Eduard is more versatile and but again is lacking in his first touch. Brining in a ‘target man’ needs a change of style from our current ‘walk it into the net’ (wherever that is) approach which is getting us nowhere. We simply don’t shoot enough.
Speaking of past failures, I say, bring back Per Bartrum !

I think it's gone quiet because we are trying to bring a striker in so wont let him go unless this happens.
