Not quite good enough in my view.
It’s difficult to detect any significant improvement in his game since he first came into the team, and on occasions he seems to have deteriorated.
He stays tight when against a direct opponent but struggles with more intricate movement of opposition players in his area of the field meaning they can readily find space with gaps appearing .
Some will say this is partly attributable to the forward players not tracking back , but full backs at other clubs are not afforded this excuse and seem to handle their responsibility.
Mitchell’s contribution going forward is almost negligible with overlaps and crosses a rare feature of his game.
Overall he’s just about adequate, but just imagine if we could upgrade in the same way as we have done with the centre halves.

Problem were seeing with Mitchell is he's a victim of a poor coach, Vieira regressed most of our players,

Mitchell's best form was under Roy, let's see how he does for the rest of the season. If Roy can't improve his form then I think we have a problem but I am optimistic that we will see an improvement.

I do think he gets a it of a hard time, but I'd tend to agree with most of that.

He's pretty ok, without being spectacular.

As you said, its a position that would hugely benefit the team by upgrading. Just a shame there aren't many options around. As someone else pointed out, outside the top 6, there aren't many decent full backs

Joe Rankin-Costello has performed with some aplomb for Blackburn.
Came through the ranks as an attacking midfielder but Tony Mowbray then at Blackburn moved him to right-back.He can be deployed in both full-back positions and he has also played at right wing-back.

Jacob Greaves at Hull is a central defender by trade but has played at left-back in recent matches. He is good in the air, is aggressive and plays on the front foot.I recall his father Mark Greaves playing.

Perry Ng of Cardiff is a right-back but is no stranger to playing at left-back and has also played at centre-half.He looks a natural defender who covers when the ball is on the opposite side of the pitch.

His refusal to press forward when he gets the ball is frustrating. He's ok defending although is often caught out. When we get the ball in an attacking scenario and the ball is passed to him he invariably turns back towards his own goal. Upgrade needed in my opinion.

For me he was defensively sound and occasionally got forward to support attacks, often with effect.

It may be the England curse but for me he looks bereft of confidence, slower, less aware defensively and is not contributing much to attacks. It's almost as if he aged a decade and a half overnight.

A very uninformed opinion of mine is that he relished his 'young kid with nothing to lose' status however became somewhat burdened with the expectation of being a first team starter on the peripheries of the national team. Feel free to rubbish as just an opinion from me.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Nope, nothing wrong with that interpretation. My own interpretation and I hope I am wrong is that he thinks he is better than he actually is. I remember reading that he was one of the guys that were doing the bare minimum during PVs training. Can’t really dwell on this though as it is speculation without first hand reference.

Ffs, it was his 1st game since the end of last season. None of the 1st teamers were very good, apart from Jairo in the 1st half, slow but class. He does need cover & competition, not sure Tayo is the answer.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.
