Easy now, don't start raising expectations.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

A school team would beat us on a penalty shootout.

We've punched way above our weight in my opinion and would have snatched your hand off for our current points total. Really ridden our luck in a few games. Even Villa struck the woodwork when the scores were level. As I've posted previously, the likes of Eze and Olise even Doucoure are very good players, and fantastic business, but not at the level many are cracking them up to be. Without intending any disrespect it's hard to rationalise predictions of top ten when the likes of Luka, Ayew, Ward, and Schlupp continue be needed so regularly. The comments about the second half of the season be very tough if we don't add three or four players are 100% correct IMO.

I feel as though we are only part way to a very good starting XI let alone squad. I also feel as though the likes of Leicester, WHU and even Wolves are yet to start performing at their best and may well do so in 2023. Next year could have a very different narrative IM(very)HO.

I feel that having Luka, Ayew, Ward, and Schlupp in the squad means that there will be gaps that academy players can use in their careers. Would love to see PV start to take chances. Perhaps we will need to be three up (or three down) before Academy substitutes are used - none came on against Newcastle last week.

He plays the role of two in a busy part of the pitch, without adequate support from a team mate beside him. Eze and Olise, despite the obvious skills, are lightweight and often don't get involved enough in the overall management of the game.

Top 6 ?? Very much agree with the many comments on here regarding our rather good fortune to have accumulated this number of points thus far. Probably more chance of the Tories winning the next election than Palace achieving top 6!!

The comments about the second half of the season be very tough if we don't add three or four players are 100% correct IMO. very good summary. I'm delighted with the current points total considering the overall performances. The 3 wins in a row at home v Leeds, Wolves and Saints were all close games that could easily have been drawn (so 6 points less). Away from home i'm just not clear what our game plan is and we have struggled for large parts of games. The points we've won have all been hard earned. We all love Eze and Olise, some of the things they can do are unbelievable, however, being a footballer involves many elements, not just skill. Tackling, heading, fitness, strength, anticipation are also important qualities. I'm still not convinced we can play both in the same line up, particularly away from home, as both can go missing for large periods. There don't seem to be any really weak teams this season (unlike say Watford and Norwich last season) so i am still more concerned about the bottom 3 than the top 6.

We have a very small squad of decent players that means hardly any competition for places. Top eight let alone top 6 is probably a pipe dream until we have increased the capacity of Selhurst Park to 35000 to pay for the better players.

After the Fulham home game our next five home games are against teams in the top 7. We need the cushion we’ve built up to help get through that period. Top 6 is delusional.

We've just lost to Forest, deservedly so. It makes this thread rather redundant doesn't it.
I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything. |
