Age is catching up with him , he’s a legend for us going to be at arsenal next year, Whether it’s in January or July I can’t see it not happening, luckily we have players to fill in now and an academy set up with lots of talent to unleash a new one

And if he does go, he goes with good luck and thank you from me

If Zaha has told Parish he won't sign a new contract, would you rather he went in Jan, say for 5m, or would you keep him until the seasons end, knowing he might not be giving 100% to avoid injury, all hypothetical i know.

Enjoying getting up later and not having someone who knows better than me (apart from the missus of course). |

I don't get why he wants to leave. The clubs he has been linked to he will be a bench warmer / impact player. According to Clickbait several of them are looking to spend big on a player in his position e.g. Arsenal. Sometimes Wilf is not in a game for large parts of it then we get a little bit of Wilf magic well if he is anonymous at a bigger club they will simply sub him before the magic. I hope he realises that he is better off with us.

The hard part with this is the club are only offering one-year deals to other players over 30. Clearly they're going to want him to sign a longer deal. Secondly, he is likely to demand a salary bump but he is arguably heading towards the tail-end of his career; given he already earns around 50k more than the next nearest player how would that affect team morale, especially given his inconsistent performances this season? As important as he is to the team, I think the club should just offer him a new deal similar to his current one and then leave it up to him. If it really isn't about money then it is just about whether he wants to stay with a club that loves him or whether he wants to play for a so-called big club again. Personally I think it'll come down to what offers he gets. If Spurs, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool move for him then he's off. If he just gets offers from the likes of Newcastle or Everton then I think he'll stay. I imagine his agent is busy sounding out prospective clubs before he makes a decision.

I don’t know about Zaha, but it’s being reported that Ayew is on the verge of signing a new contract. With regard to Zaha he’s in the nice position of considering all the options and is in no hurry to make a decision.

Presumably the agent would make more out of any deal if Zaha switched clubs (rather than just signing a new / renewed contract with us) Originally posted by taylors lovechild

Im Thinking he will have a look at what other clubs are offering in January weigh up his options . He has I guess to next June to sign the Palace deal thats on the table so there is no rush as far as Wilf is concerned

He is worth much more to us than ever, he is our talisman and suggested replacements are not up to speed yet. To lose both him and Gallagher could prove terminal to our survival chances. Unless, and very unlikely, we have a new signing lined up to go with the midfield general we so desperately need. I hope we give him a new one year deal and a salary boost. If he goes for a fee in January it won't be much of a financial benefit to us after Man United's 25% commission. Hope he stays.

I hope Wilf stays. If he goes, he goes with our thanks and best wishes. However, I wouldn't let him go in January unless we are offered silly money - and i don't think we will be. But but it's hard to see where he could go to and command a place in the starting line up. I've no doubt he would be a good squad addition for the clubs he's being linked with, but no more than that.

Agree with all of that. I think he will wait out January and can envisage a lack of sincere interest, including offers not worth Wilf's time 'entertaining', a further waiting period towards the summer and then perhaps a rather 'tail between legs' signing of a new contract. Whatever the weather, won't change Wilf's status for me so if he goes I wish him all the best but if he stays good stuff.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |
