YTD: Squad: 18, Starting eleven: 7, Substituted in: 11 Of Semenyo's 4 goals this year, none since 14/9.

For the last several matches of Bristol City, Semenyo has been relegated to being the third choice of BC's 442 striker tandem, primarily used as a second-half substitute. Tommy Conway (9g4a in 26) is their inform striker. The other, 32yo Nahki Wells, with 8g3a is not doing poorly either.

We have a string of forwards starting with our u18s (Junior Dixon and Zach Marsh) and into our U21s (JK,Killian.Akinwale,Mola, etc) that are ready now (JK, IMO), or will be in 1-2 years. Even with a January transfer, several months would be needed for a return to form and ingratiation into our system and methodology, whilst simultaneously our Academy lads would continue to improve and approach first team quality.

Also, generally recognized by football financial observers, is that Bristol City needs to try to show between 5 and £10M million this year in outbound fees. (They've had some significant financial losses over the last several years).

Look inwards, perhaps?

Maybe the manager is on a different wavelength, Nigel Pearson i ask you, he will be a very good premiership player, i hope it is with us

If we end up paying a near 8 figure sum for a player that can't get in a Bristol City team sat 18th in the Championship we may as well accept that the Olise/Andersen summer of smart spending was an anomaly rather than a new norm, pack up and go home.

13 goals in 107 Championship games - utterly woeful.

Over the last season and a half, Semenyo has plated 49 times with 11 goals and 13 assists in the Championship, despite playing in the wrong position and in a poor team.
Olise played in his last two seasons at Reading playing 71 times with with 7 goals and 13 assists, He will turn into the right footed version of Olise, so i think a similar fee to Olise is a very good purchase

Agree - if he can't get in the Bristol side now, months after recovering from injury that tells a story. I'm hoping we have moved on.

Comparison with Olise is meaningless. Olise was 18 when he got into a poor Reading side - Semenyo is almost 23 and is in his 5th year playing in the Championship.

He does seem a decent enough player but wouldn't strengthen us particularly, in my opinion. We're linked with Wright - a similar player.

Maybe, Pearson dosent pick him for a different reason, which i wont say.

Semenyo is 2 years older than Olise, and we're already waiting for Olise to develop to score more goals for us.

If Semenyo isn't better than Olise today, which he very clearly isn't, we shouldn't be interested.

Remember when Yannick Bolasie couldn't get in to the Bristol City team?

It's not clear why he isn't in the team. Is he being punished because he wont sign a new contract or is the manager thinking he's going so I might as well work without him or has his form suffered?

Talk about 10-15m is nonsense for a player who will be out of contract in 6 months. We had this with Reading I think we offered 8m they refused so we waited and signed him for free, I bet that 8m would be looking pretty good right now.

We will have the same issue with Zaha although as we are a PL club the prospect of losing your best player during the season and getting relegated I would rather take the hit and let him go in the summer.

Or possibly they are protecting their asset from injury in the run up to the transfer window opening. I'm sure he's been recovering from an injury so perchance they want to make sure the cash in. £10-£15m will be a nice kitty for a club like Bristol City.
