Wokeness in advertising has got so bad now that it's got to the point that I was shocked when I saw an advert for VISA on the side of a bus stop and it featured Lucy Bronze and 2 other white female footballers!
I'm sure someone, somewhere will complain that there's no one of colour featured.

There's a bit in the Daily Mail today saying that the woke brigade want archaeologist's that unearth human remains / skeleton's to stop labelling them as either male or female on the basis that there is no evidence as to what that person "identified as" when it was alive, also calling for them to stop labelling skeletons as having skin of a specific colour as it promotes a kind of table of supremacy.

Fine so if they uncover a female leader / warrior who appears to be black we will just refer to them as a skeleton of a tribal leader?

No? didn't think so, they would be trumpeting that from the rooftops.

It's just nonsense and I suspect that the people who actually do this work will ignore it.

We can learn a great deal about a society from these graves why airbrush it.

I saw an article couple days ago written by someone complaining that women's football (specifically the English national team) was too white & because there weren't enough coloured role models in the team / squad it was crushing the dreams of the next generation.

You can just imagine some crusty old archaeologist with about 60 years experience of digging up remains reading that......

Doesn't take a rocket scientist to know what he would be thinking.

The bbc did a feature on it the other night where Alex Scott (who else?!) went and met a young black lady who said it wasn't inspiring her to see no black players in first 11.

I think it said more about her than anything else. I don't have any problem with people of colour inspiring me whether it be footballers, boxers, musicians etc.

It's amazing what they can discover. I read a book recently about a Viking burial ground near York and how they worked out that the Vikings were using the silk route to China to trade all based on some beads.

I think a lot of it is more the way that journalism works these days - look at anything where there might be some interest (someone might want to read about it) is it well represented by the various diversity groups ? if not run a story on it claiming that its deficient in its outlook towards those groups.

Someone somewhere is upset & must be offended & someone somewhere should be burnt at the stake / help accountable.

They did a stage play which then turned into the TV remake. However it didn't work because the casting of the original was perfect.

Like the remake of Porridge some shows are just so iconic because of the cast. You could never replace John Cleese in Fawlty Towers or Warren Mitchell as Alf Garnet.

Sometimes it is just better to leave well along and come up with something original.

And don't even get me started on the remake of 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin'. I like Martin Clunes and I like Fay Ripley, but, in summary, it was a travesty!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

Indeed. If you think about it, we are very close to a position where Crystal Palace could be accused of failing to inspire white kids.

Couldn't imagine only fools & horses with anyone else in the starring roles - ok they had a few different actors playing grandad but Delboy, Rodney & even Micky Pearce would be difficult to recast.
