What we need is a "cost of living crisis" so that millions of people can't afford to fly all over the place. Ha ha it must be hard only having two holidays a year when fuel and food are so expensive and causing so much stress. Maybe the entitlement word is in play Edited by cryrst (29 May 2022 8.04am)

Liverpool airport must be busy as clearly no cost of living crisis for the thousands of fans who went to Paris.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

On TV yesterday morning, the BBC reporter 'in amongst the Liverpool fans' actually said (without laughing) that it had been difficult for these fans to afford to get here "what with the rising cost of everything". He then spoke to a Scouser who proudly boasted that he had paid £7,000 for a ticket - or maybe it was a pair of tickets; even so.

What are you blaming it on then CP - anything but reality - or is it Boris's fault again?

On the subject of over booking, Jan 2019 my wife and I were bumped off an overbooked flight from Istanbul to Hong Kong. We were put in a hotel for the night ( well starting from 3 am , next day flight at 1 am ), three hotel meals ( meh standard ). Not a big deal for us as we had no urgency in our return. Was very happy though, as we each received Euros 600 in compensation that was paid in to my bank account a week later. We had an extra day in Istanbul and a substantial contribution to the cost of the flights. Given the choice I would have this on every flight. Edited by HKOwen (30 May 2022 12.57am)

Yes its great when it works for you & doesn't screw up your schedule - I always found that on the flights when they were ready to offer compensation I was already committed to tight deadlines & couldn't take advantage. Originally posted by HKOwen

My best compensation story is - Living in Dubai going to Singapore for a budget meeting, as the hotel in Sing was already paid for I decided to take the wife along, I had an economy ticket (company paid) so I shelled out for her economy ticket & used air miles to get us both bumped up to Business class, on checking in Business class was full so Emirates bumped us up to First class - When we went to the departure gate there was a long queue, so I flashed the first class boarding passes & went to the front of the queue, where a mouthy woman started to protest that there was a queue & I was queue jumping, the Emirates guy just ushered us to the front & str8 on board, seats 1A & 1B - about 45 minutes later this woman boarded ( her seat was like row 80 or something) by which time we were sitting there drinking Champagne, the look she gave me....lol.

Busy airports are as bad as IKEA on a Sunday Surely Emirates had a different line for different classes? Economy for 7 1/2 hour flight is rubbish company travel policy Edited by HKOwen (30 May 2022 9.01am) Edited by HKOwen (30 May 2022 9.03am)

The company I worked for at the time had a policy that everyone flew economy, unless there were specific reasons not to such as a deadline for a meeting & no economy tickets available, but at least even the CEO travelled economy - I knew friends that worked for companies where anything over a 4 hour flight was OK to go Business class but the people I worked for wasn't one. Emirates do have separate lines for checking in & its usually very well organised the line that I queue jumped was right at the departure gate handled by DNATA with some Emirates supervision - Originally posted by HKOwen
