Exactly this. I hate to be one of those 'I know someone that knows his pet dog' type of people but I do know someone well who is very close to Gallagher and his family.

From what he tells me Gallagher absolutely loves it at Palace and loves Vieira and the role he allows him to play with us.. However... He is a lifelong Chelsea fan and it is his dream to play for Chelsea and wants to make that dream come true so I'd be very surprised if he leaves Chelsea in the summer

Yup, but these are unusual times and circumstances; and players leave their boyhood clubs all the time and have to ply their trade elsewhere. This is usually down to quality, but in CG's case it maybe for other factors beyond his control.

If he loves his time now, better us than some cash cow up north..?

whoever the new owner of Chelsea is, it's unlikely they they are willing to bankroll success in the way a Russian Oligarch would. Therefore there will need to be a new business model in place and that may involve shedding a load of players along with other 'fat' from around the business. If anything that's what will help us with Gallagher. Or course they could equally be of a mindset to bring some of their homegrown talent into the fold which could include players like Gallagher.

Absolutely... He's a Southern boy born and bred and as long as Vieira is in charge I'd like to think he would choose us over anyone else.

I'd like to think you are right, however Newcastle can outbid any transfer fee and wages we could offer. They can also promise that he will not be the only marque signing as they have a project.

What really bothers me is that Newcastle come in for PV, I hope not. I can swallow him going to Arsenal or City because they are bigger clubs and he has the connection, but Newcastle!

3 out of our 4 top earners don't even get in the team, 40/50k is now our wage structure, and it should be

Tuchel has already said he's in his plans for the future and even then I'm sure bigger clubs like arsenal, Tottenham would be interested in him.

Why would he choose us over Chelsea or any other big club with the potential to win trophies.
Let’s be very honest, Palace aren’t going to be winning any major trophies anytime soon or playing in the Champions League.

We've just won the Generation Cup - nothing can stop us now!

parent clubs always say that. It keeps them motivated and their price up

Seems to me that Chelsea's predicament makes it much more likely that they will recall Gallagher rather than sell him to us, or anyone else (even if the ban on transfers is lifted).
They're going to have less money to splash around, so will have to learn to live within their means. The obvious way to do that is to recall some of the two-dozen young stars they have out on loan at other clubs, and draft them into the first-team squad. No outlay on transfers; and relatively cheap wages.
Given his quality, at the top of their list of recalls will be Gallagher.
