Chelsea have more or less been taken over by the government - we could see Jacob Rees-Mogg in the dugout - "Jacob Rees-Mogg's blue army"?

Anyone know how long Conor’s contract with Chelsea is? Originally posted by Willo
My understanding is that he signed a 5-year deal in 2020. Presumably, though, the minute they run out of funds to pay wages, they are in breach of contract and the players would be free to look elsewhere?

I have tickets to see a couple of shows at " under the bridge " just wondering if that will now be closed ? They are still selling tickets on their (UTB) website. I imagine that it is run as a completely separate entity so shouldn't be a problem so long as Chelsea are still going.

I am surprised at how tough the sanctions are against Chelsea. Andy Jacobs has just said the government should sell the club and donate any profits to Ukraine charities. RA is not going to get any money out of Chelsea now so why continue to punish the club it wont bother him as he's already written off his investment. For the moment the club is in limbo and will not be able to function next season if this drags on. Nobody wants to see RA profit so the sooner we are rid of him the better.

Its a mine field for prospective new owners as RO could sue and thus no-one will now buy them. With not enough income to pay players wages they could just walk. Meaning the value of those players is lost. Not selling tickets has clearly not been thought though as this also means no away fans. Which is against the PL rules. Brentford have sold half their allocation but chelsea say they can't sell anymore. I can see some very quick changes. i.e. ticket sales but in a frozen account until needed for the running of the club. Its an as usual balls up by those without a scooby.

The Government have said they're open to a sale, providing they effectively handle it and no proceeds go to Abramovich. So that will happen, as the alternative is the end of Chelsea, which seems an unlikely thing for the government to want. The only spanner here is if Roman decides to take legal action against the government – if he does that it screws the whole thing. What do you mean "if" he takes legal action. Surely it's a given that he will as the government need to prove that he's an associate of Putin unless innocent until proven guilty no longer applies

I think that this particular sanction has been very poorly thought out as the majority of the people that will suffer are the Chelsea supporters, staff and players and unless the government are going to fund the club it will end up going bust I agree but tbf some of the Chelsea supporters I know, deserve anything that is thrown at them
