Just taking a moment to listen to our admiration of the Hartlepool fans; I paused to also contemplate the ridiculous amount of broken glass, rubbish and bottle caps outside Sainsburys. The floor outside was sticky and rancid and Crystal Palace staff were clearing it all up.

I'll probably get some prawn sandwiches thrown at me for this comment.

Yes the Poolies gave their team super support. Unfortunately for them and the neutrals, the two goals, coming when they did, killed the game as a contest. We were never going to let that lead slip.

Yes, we were sloppy in front of goal on a number of occasions, but tbf, their goalie pulled off several very smart saves, especially from some cracking shots by Mateta.

It was a very comfortable afternoon for us Palace fans (we don't get many of those).

As to individual players:
1. Great to see Adamarola make his 1st team debut.
2. Mateta grew into the game and was unlucky not to score.
3. Kelly acquitted himself well
4. Luka mixed a few good passes with a lot of poor ones
5. Gallagher was not at his best (and doesn't seem to have been since Covid)
6. Olise clearly the star of the show.
7. Benteke - why was he brought on? He looks more like a donkey every time he plays.
8. The others were all ok.

I'd go along with pretty well all you say.

With 5 subs I was disappointed not to see Rak-Sakyi get some game time. I'd much rather he'd come on than Benteke ( we already know all to well what he can and can't do) - with a bit of juggling we could have fitted him.

Eze is gradually getting up to speed but isn't quite there yet.

Mateta, with his long legs, does look a bit clumsy but I prefer him to Benteke.

I would prefer a wheelie bin to Benteke

Yep. With the lid open it could at least trap the ball in one movement.

Nah, it would just bounce out.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

Definitely an upgrade on a certain someone

Mateta's scored a couple of goals recently against championship level opposition and has shown a bit of desire around the box but he was sh!te yesterday against a team that came up from the National League. Benteke was worse when he came on.

There is no solid argument from either direction IMO. Edouard cant play as a lone striker in a 433 either IMO.

Nobody knows yet if Mateta will be the striker we need or not, he is improving, nobody knows if Eduard can or learn to play the loan striker, only time will tell, what we do know is Benteke has been rubbish for four and a half seasons now, Fact

Just been having a browse on the 'pool fans forum.

We look to have made a big impression on them before and during Saturday and we've earned a fair few fans from the North East, including their manager.

Would love to have been at Selhurst for the game, but it's pleasing to know that all you who were there did our club proud.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

I know what you mean. I think if you put a wheelie bin in front of a goal and fired balls at it for 90 minutes every saturday. The ball would bounce into the goal a lot more than 4 times in 5 months.

You need to learn the meaning of fact. London is the capital of England...for example, is a fact. What you presented was instead an opinion. And one everyone is well aware of.

The reality is, we don't have any world class striking options. Splitting hairs on Tekkers vs Mateta is here nor there.

Funny how when it's Mateta that inexcusably misses an absolute sitter, he's unlucky not to score. When certain other strikers do the same, they're donkeys who need gotten rid of.

Double standards much.
