PV didn’t rest many at Watford in the league cup earlier this season, and if Wilf and Kouyate are available before AFCON then he may as well play them. Not sure that's correct . . . Like the World Cup & the Euros, players have to join up approx 6 days prior to start of tournament, which means we WILL be without our 4 Afcon players. Another thing to consider is, BoJo is considering making ALL sporting events 'covid passport' for entry. That's assuming, the country hasn't gone into lockdown again.
This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise. |

Some entertaining stories. The train story the best. What I’ve never understood is why multiple London firms grouped together for when millwall are away at Luton. Why?

It was my opinion that he should play them (so can neither be deemed right or wrong) and as I don’t know when AFCON starts I haven’t a clue as to when they have to join up with their relevant squads.

I was at that famous Luton riot and I know that lots of palace were there to, that game was a bit of an open secret around London building sites, everyone was going, no matter who they supported, I was with a palace mate, a millwall face and one of the mile end mob from West Ham. it was the same kind of open secret that those kids had back about 10 years ago when they took over and burned the place down, looting currys etc, no idea why to be fair.

I can only summise that Luton probably stood their ground the previous season against Millwall, they had a tight little firm, the mig army i think, and wall wanted to take revenge. But no idea why it snowballed like it did, the train from st pancras had no seats, they piled us on mail trains, like wild animals, and they wern"t far wrong, as the night proved.Luton used to have some game locals who could be found in the snooker club, they were always up for it, with Millwall to. The arndale centre never fared well after a palace visit, it was at the bottom of a steep hill, and even with a police escort, the l;ines would give way, the 5000 odd palace would take would break free, and the Arndale centre was the victim , mad days.

Sorry Rudi, I deviated from your question. I imagine, after the original riot, others wanted to go for a repeat, those from other clubs to, but it was never going to happen, i think Luton went all seater after that anyway, and membership only, then everyone did.

A few fans from other clubs may have tagged along with Millwall mates, but the talk that these different mobs from other clubs were all joining up with Millwall is tosh. Yeah, Luton were a game little mob, but do you really think Millwall, in the mid 80’s, when we was probably at our worst, would need or want other London mobs to join them to take them on?? And talk of west ham being with Millwall that night (I’ve seen this mentioned at various times on social media) in an era when the violence between Millwall and West Ham was on an unprecedented level, is laughable. Reading a lot of nonsense on this thread. It’s 2021 now. If you don’t want trouble you won’t get it. Going to be a great game and a great atmosphere. Looking forward to it Edited by Wippa (08 Dec 2021 9.53pm)

I'll never forget a giant Palace fan called Chris pushing me into them in the Enclosure. Must have been 6 ft 6 amd 16 stone "No, no, no. After YOU, sir". And some bellend who went by the name of Stobo. And a big bald Palace fan who smacked one of them clean on the nose with a Brolly (in that third fracas) to kick it all off. The Police saved us.

Always struck me as odd and why didn’t anyone tell them to turn back home. Maybe so many thousands going straight after work made that unlikely and it all explode pretty quickly when overcrowding happened behind the goal that was never mentioned and something never mentioned at anywhere until Hillsborough.

Spot on. The catalyst for the trouble was the overcrowding. But this never gets mentioned. All the focus was on the trouble and not the massively over crowded away end. How Luton never made this fixture all ticket is beyond me. It was a Hillsborough waiting to happened. Unfortunately the warning signs weren’t heeded and a few years later Hillsborough did actually happen.
