Dan please let me explain something, using my years of experience of interviewing asylum seekers. Many asylum seekers from Muslim countries claim to have converted to Christianity, why? Because they know it would be very difficult for HO to return them to a country where Christians may be persecuted. This tends to be those with no other claim. Not difficult to understand.
This bomber ,converted” after his asylum claim was refused, I suspect he would have then lodged another one on this basis.
Another point, bomber was a Jordanian who claimed to be Syrian, possibly entered with no documentation. HO established his true nationality, so he lied on a very basic point, his nationality. What else did he lie about?
The problem HO have in these cases is persuading the Jordanian authorities to issue him with a passport in order to remove him, a very difficult and lengthy process.
Remember the thousands crossing the Channel are undocumented, so before giving them your full support, just think… who are they and where are they from?

It’s widely been reported that he had converted to Christianity. Likely to try and make his asylum case stronger but who knows. I just find it fascinating how attitudes and language changes as the fact patterns change.

To me these kind of things are always terrorist acts, no matter what the motivation. The fact they are clearly nutjobs no matter what the race, religion or background doesn’t stop them being terrorist acts.
