Watched MOTD AWB strolling back for the 2 goals. His body language looks poor which I guess is why he is getting pelters.

I am not saying he was to blame for both goals but as a defender he should have put more of an effort getting back even if it was just for show.

I saw that but on each occasion Man City doubled up on the left at him and no ones was covering behind him to close them down. Really easy for them to single AWB out, watch it again and see what part or little part Maguire does to marshal the defence.

Just had a quick look at a United fans forum and he is getting a terrible slating on it.

The main criticisms seem to be lack of positional awareness, poor attacking ability, inaccurate passing and laziness.

A few people are citing poor coaching and tactical confusion in mitigation but the general consensus is that he isn't good enough.

I always felt he left too soon and was a long way from the finished article but it was too good an offer to turn down.

I think he may have an attitude problem but I am not sure the confusing mishmash of tactics is helping him and his development as a player seems to have stalled completely.

Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that.

Apart from his attacking game never being his strong point - despite playing as a winger for CPFC youth teams - the criticisms AWB's facing now all pick out shortcomings he never had playing for us or until lately at Man U. Last season he was picked out by pundits as their best defender. I'm afraid what we're seeing lately is a sad comment on Solskjær - whom I'd have liked to see succeed.

I think he has definitely lost form but I suspect its not entirely down to him.

His behaviour outside football has been slightly questionable as well but again its hard to say how much of that is entirely his fault.

He certainly does not seem in a happy place right now.

When he came into the Palace side, it was perfect timings for him.

He is an out and out defensive right back, and playing under Roy with his defensive and organisational tactics made him stand out. So much so, United obviously came in for him for 50m.

Trouble is now, at United is needs to be more than just an out and out defensive right back and is found wanting going forward. But not only that, United do have the defensive and organisational structure either.

No wonder he is lost at the moment.

It's inevitable that United will have a new manager sooner or later, and AWB maybe one of the first casualties under the new manager if they are looking for the full-backs to have an attacking ability as well.

AWB was always good at going forward for us, and he was much better at that than Mitchell and Ward combined. This is another example of a player that is a difference maker for a mid-level side like us, and a player that is expected to excel with a top 6 team.

If United cut him loose, I'd be happy to have him back.

Err. Guys I don’t know how much he gets paid but I really think he’s blow our pay structure. And you know what? I doubt it would work out. I remember an interview of AWB in his breakout season and it was clear to me he was off as soon as a good bid came. Good luck to him but I am loving Ward’s rejuvenation

AWB for £8 million and £25k a week? Sure.

But that's not what we're talking.

I agree 100% about Ward's rejuvenation but we do still need better going forward.

last season he stopped both Neymar and Mbappe in a masterclass of defending. This year he looks completely lost. I like Ole but how the hell he has kept his job is beyond me. The team looks like a bunch of mates that have met up for a kickabout. AWB needs direction and right now he is not getting any. I'd have him back in a heartbeat, but I think under a better manager at United he'll thrive.

This can happen to any player. Flying along at Palace. The the big teams descend and they can’t quite make it. He was a star for us. I hope Gallagher considers all his options. For whatever reason it is really working for him with us. He is loving life. Very important.

Exactly, and this is something Bruno Fernandes is complaining about. Man U need to get rid of Ole and his team of coaches pronto and bring in a team who can get the best out of what is a very talented squad that should be winning things. Having said that, I hope they don't sack Ole till at least the season's end because I reckon we have the best chance in 30 years of finishing above them this year.
