We know how lazy Benteke is but that he had a bit of resurgence last season. I thought he was shocking Monday.

But I don't understand why you re-sign him and then let the best direct crosser of a ball in Townsend leave on a free without replacing him.

Regarding Benteke, he's a mediocre footballer, and to top it off, he's a lazy cnut as well. I have no doubt that PV has realised that Benteke won't fit into the high press scheme of things, and as currently we don't seem to be playing for crosses that much I wonder where that leaves Benteke...

In the reserves like the lazy overpaid poser he is,get rid fast!!!

Here we go again
Lets have a go at Benteke brigade are at it again .
Against Brighton he helped out in defence and it was his pass to Ayew who missed a very good chance .
Why not blame Benteke for the s**t clearance by Guaita that led to Brighton's goal .

His pass to Ayew was excellent, that cannot be debated. But from my point of view, there was a serious drop off in energy and work rate when Benteke came on for Edouard.

To be crystal clear, I don't think Benteke's performance had any impact on the ultimate outcome. You are quite correct that Guaita's lousy clearance (with both a shocking trajectory and being quite off line) was the ultimate culprit for Brighton's equalizer. However, Benteke left a lot to be desired. He failed to keep possession the few times the ball was cleared to him, and he was not tracking the ball on defence with the same amount of pace as Edouard. Those are valid criticisms. He should not be scapegoated for the loss. That said, if the effort we saw for the last 15 minutes on Monday is indicative of what we'll be seeing when he subs on for Edouard, it is quite difficult to see how he fits in with the club going forward.

Vierra has brought in a very interesting coaching team. Osin Roberts clearly has proven abilities. The football we are starting to play has never been delivered by Palace before. The problem is we don’t have a full team yet performing to the new style. But we are already looking bloody good. Give them all time. Some of you have mentioned some players who probably won’t make it, but we have got plenty in the wings looking for their chance. Injuries fitness and youth are keeping them out at the moment. But our management and coaching team are watching very closely. I have every confidence that they will draft in the right players at the right time. Frustrating we are not there yet but you can see clear signs of a very impressive evolving style. With the players in the wings we have we are on the cusp of very exciting times. Patience is the word. I’m really sure Palace will deliver soon enough and then the roof really will come off on all four stands. Monday night atmosphere and noise was off the scale.

Sadly, I don't think you will be. Having been a fairly regular watcher of the U23s over the last 18 months or so, I haven't seen Street do anything to convince me that he'll be a PL or even Championship player.

I agree. Does a lot of running around but nothing more than that, sadly. Also I have reservations about his attitude at times, not convinced he is a team player

Very good post. Benteke performance completely exposed his shortcomings.

they are Benteke's mum and dad from what I can work out. It's the only explanation for the blind faith they have in his ability.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see Benteke start on Sunday. No one has nailed down the position at the minute.
