Any update on this? I'd say that's still relevant. Whether progress would be made is important too however a repeat of that performance will certainly see our traditional QF exit. I'd sooner see us outclassed that churn out that turd again. There's a difference between losing and hating that and not giving the best performance you are capable of, losing, and hating that even more.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

You're right of course, I just disagree with the idea that this team are overrated - people are so reactionary when it comes to watching England. No doubt if we do go out the pant-wetting will be in full flow, despite those same people spending the whole tournament telling everyone we're nowhere near as good as teams like France, it will still be unacceptable to them if we do lose to a team like France.

Yeah I accept and agree with that. I don't think we're overrated at all in fact my biggest fear is that we underrate ourselves, or the players do, and do not perform to the peak of their abilities as a result. I think that's what I, in essence, meant by 'if we're outclassed so be it' and also I'm inclined to believe what happened vs USA. Football fans by their nature are very reactionary and it has to be one of the most subjective fields when diagnostics are performed. I think it's fair to say we underperformed against USA. It is however unfair to say that is the end of the world and proves anything beyond a singular bad performance, given the capability of the team. I think we are more than capable of beating France. They have a sensation in Mbappe but I think overall our squad is better than theirs. Kane is better than Giroud, our midfield is better than theirs, Lloris has his weaknesses for sure and is about 40 (joke) and their defence whilst very good is not impregnable. My only fear against them is either: 1. Mbappe transforms into the unplayable and we just simply cannot cope but more so... 2. The team do see France as 'better than us', we/they underrate our/themselves and therefore play below that which we are capable of, France do not, and we go out with a whimper knowing we were capable, from a technical standpoint, of a far better and perhaps victorious performance. There will be two top, top quality teams playing Saturday and one beating the other is well within the realms of possibility. If England beat themselves however that will be most disappointing but dare I say consistent with my experiences. I do not envisage France being lacklustre of negative either, it's almost uniquely English that mentality. I will add, finally, that whilst I can't help but envisage this happening, I think this team is far, far more 'mentally strong' than the proceeding few iterations. Come on England!!

Neymar ...... probably no better than mid-table Premier League standard. Over priced, over rated, Brazil's loss.

Harry Kane ?
“That’s a joke son, I say, that’s a joke.” “Nice boy, but he’s sharp as a throw pillow.” “He’s so dumb he thinks a Mexican border pays rent” “ “Son… I say, son, some people are so narrow minded they can look through a keyhole with both eyes.”__ Forhorn Leghorn |
