to be fair, we need a striker as we only have bentekkers on the books full time, and if he gets injured were f***ed. matata may be going back and is a unknown quality so far. he is different to what we have, and in all honesty in todays market £20 (ish) is the going rate for a top championship striker

Their fans do nothing but moan about him, hopefully if we land Armstrong he will turn out ok for us. Re Mateta, I think he will be going back if the loan permits that.

Southampton already have an Armstrong in their team. Surely there's a Prem League rule saying you can't have two! This rule is true. The names James McCarthy and James McArthur were too close so the league forced us to sell one!!

The price may seem on the high side but over a 4/5 year contract I'd say it might make sense if his wages are only half what an established Prem goal scorer like Ings would have wanted. My only worry is previous strikers Blackburn have sold eg Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede have flopped at the top level. I just hope we keep enough money for someone who can put in high balls to Benteke.

If we had a term to break it this would of already of been done. 20m is not the going rate players are worth the value someone else is willing to pay for them (Wilf prime example SP claimed he was worth 80m everyone else said nope look how that turned out plus this guy only has 1 year left on contract) Must be other options from abroad close to this fee.

Had my doubts about how genuine our interest was but have read we are his preferred destination from the clubs currently expressing an interest. AJ comparisons are almost inevitable and if he is half the goalscorer AJ was he could turn out to be the best buy of the window for us. Yes not proven at PL level but he is a natural goalscorer and gives us a different attacking threat. Fingers crossed on this one.
Some people think football is a matter of life and death. I don't like that attitude. I can assure them it is much more serious than that. |

Thinking about it 28 goals is mighty impressive given Blackburn are poor in Champo terms There can't have been many higher returns down there in recent years especially from non-promoted teams. Arguably with only 5 pens he actually did better than Toney at Brentford last time. Getting moderately excited.
