In general I think the refereeing has been very good in terms of not blowing up for every minor physical thing, but there are always sh1t refs - like the one who produced two yellow cards for the Polish fella. I agree with you on this. Surprised, but pleased because I often think overseas refs are more inclined to be taken in by hysterics.

The use of VAR had been so much better in this tournament up until that penalty decision in the Czech game

Portugal 2 - 4 Germany. This was a better game, at least we saw some goals. Germany beginning to find their form. Both played like they wanted to win a game of football. No sign of looking for a 2nd or 3rd place as has been suggested about England's strategy. Come on England - stop fannying about.

Can anyone Explain how the 'best' 3rd Place teams qualify thing works? Everyone saying that 4 points is enough to qualify, but the way I see It, all groups could end up with a 3rd placer with 4 points - so they can't all go through. Then there's where to they go into the knockouts? the wall chart I have is very complicated on that front.

I understand a number of factors are taken into account in addition to the usual goal difference. So, for instance, if two teams have the same GD the one with most goals scored or least bookings will be judged the one to go through.

You're missing one . . . Match 39 Winner Group C V 3rd D/E/F So far, Switzerland in Group A are looking good with 4pts & -1gd & 3 chances of being in a group, all other groups only have 2 chances, we wont know till after Weds games have been finalised, being that they are the last of the 3rd round of group games.

Yes, this is a factor, also, along with how the teams finished in qualifying for the Euro's in the 1st place. God, they dont make it easy for us poor old fans. I see that the police in Amsterdam wont be allowing any Welsh supporters in for their game on Sat V whoever finish R/up in Group B. Seems unfair but thats because Holland isnt on the Welsh 'safe' list of countries.
