It’s now 30 years since Lad Culture was all the rage in certain quarters. Wonder how many 50 year olds, now in management positions, who were desperate to prove their “Geezer” credentials back then are looking over their shoulder.

In a nutshell.

I watched a succession of Black and Asian people telling us how Robinson should repent his sins and be properly punished on the BBC this morning.

One of them was Monty Panasar.

You couldn't make it up. Oddly, he didn't want to talk about his past.

All the agenda is going to be off loaded on this guy.

Robinson is probably already regretting being picked for England. The fact that he's been up there as the best English pace bowler for a couple of years means little now.

Apparently you have to be passed by Panasar, Carberry and Ramprakash.

I'd quit and tell them to shove their England selection.
It's time for people to make a stand. This has reached a point of total absurdity.

Unless he gets some positive noises from the ECB soon, I could very well see that.

He's being used as a football.

Since these things are always cyclical we can expect, in a few years time, to see all the people responsible for bubbling everyone they can get busted in turn.
- How could you go out of your way to cancel people? That’s shocking.
- You don’t understand. It was a different time. Society was like that then, etc, etc.

As I said, I am sure he will get forgiveness if he proves he has genuinely changed

But in truth it's now going to be really hard for him as it will always look false and just like he is cynically trying to get back his position

If he were a decent sort he would have realised earlier that this needed some serious atonement.

What should the ECB do then? His tweets were directed at its largest demographic and its targeted new audience. Couldn't really be much worse for it.

I am sure they will find a way for him to claw his way back but it will need to be a long haul approach not a sticking plaster.

And as far as suspending him goes, Useless Eustice obviously doesn't understand how disciplinary processes work. It is just standard when someone is under disciplinary investigation.

18 at the time. He was punished at the time (pretty severely too, getting fired by Yorkshire). Has he done it since? No. Now he's being punished again thanks to some dirty, unprincipled, bloodsucking parasite who's only job is to dig up as much dirt on people more popular than them to pay their wages so they can keep seeing Mistress Mary.

If it was a real Court of Law, it'd be thrown out - not least than he's already been tried for it.

I honestly don't know why people want to be Sport stars in this country.

Hear hear Badgerino!!

Really? he was Punished then as a small-time county player - which is what he was at the time. He most likely issued an apology back then - but he was so small time, neither was big news[the indiscretion or the apology]. I'd imagine he thought that the episode was behind him, and he can move on.. ensuring that he learned from his mistakes.

The ECB should have said 'He was punished at the time, deeply regrets his actions and has learnt from them'.
maybe also that they are taking steps to educate all members of the cricketing world so another teenager doesn't fall foul of the same media orgasm.
