I noticed it but I assumed it was because we had not released this seasons squad numbers and so the numbers players have been wearing during pre-season are not necessarily indictive of what numbers they will wear. Basically wearing whatever shirts for pre-season.

Maybe giving him a big 4 year contract when aged almost 29 has made him too comfortable.
I thought the same with Punch a bit.

Still think there is a good player in there and has never been the fastest anyway. Hopefully he can still play the holding midfield role - especially as he has 2 years left of his contract!

So from what I can remember, there was talk of Luka leaving Palace before he signed his new deal. Even after he signed the new deal to stay with us, he seemed to suggest publicly that it had been a difficult period but that he was now staying. It’s just my opinion but I got the impression that he didn’t get the wages he wanted from Palace but neither did he get the right offers from elsewhere…it just came across to me like the whole ordeal had been rather unsatisfactory to Luka.

Since he signed the new deal he’s been poor…really poor IMO. He’s often off the pace and this leads to poor fouls given away. If he’s not winning the ball then what does he offer the team? He has an assist record of 1 in every 30 games and that’s for a player who takes many of the free kicks.

When he’s good he’s class and he’s a player who I feel has served us very well…but I feel it’s time he was replaced in the 1st team.

I see there's an extra game against a Brentford B team tomorrow lunchtime, (will be on Palace TV) perhaps that's been arranged to provide game time to some of those who haven't been involved in pre season as much as anyone would like & still need to stake their claim for a place in the starting line up - Luka included perhaps ?
