Not a traditional Leftist policy but one that the new Left seems to embrace. We know the rich elites want it, but rich does not equal Right wing. Yes these terms are all a bit anachronistic

One only has to look at the careers of people such as David Starkey or Douglas Murray. They've spoken out; they're going nowhere now. Blimey that's good.

Spot on. Labour have actually turned against its own, the working class English.

I agree with it but take a different stance. Apparently Labour is the party of the ‘working class’. I make that around 14%. So who speaks for the mass that supports progressive policies and cares about equality of opportunity? Certainly not the current government. Labour focuses on noble causes, whether or not in truth they are deserving but doesn’t really currently speak for modern Britain. Edited by Mapletree (29 May 2021 11.15pm)

It's well known that it was Blair who shifted Labour culturally towards that progressive neo liberal type...the 'champagne socialist' meme. So used to the greasy pole they keep a fiver in their boxer strap. However, Labour are meant to be for the working class....the clue is kind of in the name. But while they found success with Blair and 'New Labour', a large part of the grass roots hated themselves for it. So when the election victories stopped the knifes came out once Miliband changed the leadership rules. However, the 'progressives', which make up the bulk of the Labour grass roots, don't really represent the bulk of the voting pool.....and slowly the normies came to realise that Labour were less interested in them than their ideological purities. Now Labour are stuck with a leadership that can't win and a grass roots that doesn't want to change back to Blairism. So Johnson will basically be in office for a long time,....Labour have more chance of a heart attack/stroke getting rid of him than they have of beating him in an election. Something I predicted of Johnson before he became leader.....mind you I can't stand him either. Eventually though, unless something dramatic happens, demographic change wins it for Labour....Just look at London for the evidence. Edited by Stirlingsays (30 May 2021 1.11am)

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |
