Would be interested to know what you would consider to be good policies. I would support nationalisation of rail and water for example, if we could guarantee not to return to the union driven chaos of the 70's when the train service was a joke. Water I believe requires investment at a level that allows little room for profit and should operate at break even. I would actively promote local bus services in the levelling in areas, there are virtually no bus services from surrounding towns to Hull for example, so people who need to attend hospital need to take a taxi which is ridiculous. Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

Yes they would be good, and some re-nationalisation is already starting. For me climate and green polices are my overriding concern anything else seems just inadequate. Crime, especially knife crime imo requires legislation to ban knives altogether and a return to the successful 'tough on crime etc.' policy. That means funding police intelligence on youths and bringing back youth centres. My real bete noir has been water privatisation, I find it quite disgusting in view of all the billions that have been poured in to private companies, that they discharge raw sewage into rivers and the sea. Grrrrr

The RMT have been bad enough with private companies. The reason they want nationalisation is to get more power. I'd say that the government should bid for rail and bus franchise against the private sector. The best tender wins. Issues with buses start as soon as you go outside of the M25. There are systems that could be easily introduced to help. Text my bus has been around for decades. Each bus stop has a number, you send it to a free to text number and it response with live data on when the next bus arrives could easily make an app that does the same. That would really help to get more people using buses, once customer numbers go up, more services can be provided.

If the governments of the world were serious about the 'green future' then public transport in whichever guise needs to be free for everyone.

No. Cost effective for the planet? Yes. Personally I think it's all bo lax but I'm still allowed that opinion. Do you mean, free at the point of use, for everyone? Which isn't free. It's likely to be incredibly inefficient and those who can afford decent accountants won't have to pay anything whilst the rest of us get lumbered with the bill.

Hop on hop off, any domestic service any place anytime. We are going to get hammered, and I mean hammered very soon. Including the poor; they won't be immune from the bulls*** coming our way.
