Imagine any builders might have a point to make on the subject. They certainly might if they find out the sitting CONservative pm and chancellor took a bung to allow said building company in, illegally, and let them off paying any tax to boot for 7 years!

Yet another thread that’s descended into petty squabbles. Honestly it’s getting boring on here. Happy Easter and happy Passover everyone.

I wouldn't decry your 'acceptance of being where we are' since that is a given. What is not, is accepting it quietly. There are areas where continued objection is justified and necessary. I can't speak for anyone else, but my opinions, albeit expressed in a limited fashion on here, are miles away from the traditional description of far right politics. You on the other hand claim to be some sort of conservative but sound like anything but. That's a reasonable post most of which I can agree with! Although I see very little point in continuing objection when you have already accepted something. Surely better to try to make things as good as possible and not waste time and energy on things you know cannot succeed. I have long been a firm believer in fiscal conservatism and not spending more than you earn, other when facing an emergency when hopefully you have built up a reserve in readiness. It's the way I have always managed my personal finances and I have never borrowed money, other than for a mortgage early in my life and for a business in later life, both well secured by property. The Tory Party has left me in recent years rather than me leaving them.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Thanks, i"m over Uber to be honest, have a case pending with 10,000 others, no win no fee, and win or lose, will probably use them one day, although i"m not keen on the price surge if it"s busy late at night! My thing wasn"t so much about a business coming over, it was that our pm and cabinet were complicit for financial gain, and never had a problem with the actual drivers, just making a living. The job market for everyone is getting interesting, taxi driving as a career is finished, to cost prohibitive, but the manual building game that i did before is going to get flooded so the prices will drop with the available people having a go!

Ha, no, companies that come here should abide by the laws of the land, and not be given a "shoe in", by our sitting pm, chancellor and London mayor for hundreds of thousands of shares in said company! They should also abide by our working rights and pay their tax, something Uber weren"t doing, until last weeks court ruling. It shows the importance of a good union, without them those Uber drivers would be on about £3 an hour, pre pandemic! My interest obviously stems from it affecting my job, but the same can happen anywhere, the main point was the fact that the sitting pm, London mayor now pm, and chancellor were all complicit and got well rewarded for illegal activity, its a race to the bottom and nobody cares, until it knocks on their door! You said you wernt bitter! Alum in your coffee?

A couple of the posters you’re quick to back up on here. Might be a good barometer for you to Judge just how ‘moderate’ you are by knowing some of the company those like minded to you keep. Edited by DanH (02 Apr 2021 12.14pm)

And in your opinion, of course Hi SW19 This is my take on it a/ Johnson has already come out and said he sees the need for the domestic passport, there is considerable evidence that for the past few months they (HMG) have been looking to develop the software to have this in place. It is great news that already a number of MP’s have said they will oppose this and vote against this with the LD’s saying they, as a party, oppose so they will be getting my vote in the local elections. It is clear that the majority of tory MP’s will follow the government line so will be likely to vote in favour. b/ How would it work - well the model is already in existence in Israel where you need to show your digital ID to enter, for example, a bar, restaurant, shopping centre. Many will feel that this is ok (WE for example) however what they are blind to, in my opinion, is that once we start down this road it will lead to having to have whatever government mandated medicine (they are already talking about an annual booster) and without this entry will be denied. Like I said many will be, ignorantly, happy with this believing that it provides “freedom” but this is not my belief. Do you really trust Johnson etc with this level of control over your day to day life? The man is a proven liar, cheat and wholly unsuited to a position of power (I say this as someone who, regrettably voted for him and was previously a lifelong conservative voter) Once established it is just a small step to a CCP style social credit score where your access to a normal life is based on your score any dissent and your score reduces and suddenly you are unable to travel (for example) The fact that Tony Blair supports it should be enough to put most sane people off the idea! I am not anti-vax and I can understand that an international vaccine passport might be needed but I am very strongly against having to “show my papers” to go to Selhurst or to get a pint. As I said others see no issue with this and that it their right but it is definitely not for me, nor is it a place that I want my children to live in. Apologies for the long response - it is like a Bluejay note!
