The first thing he always shouted was' I'm Barry Scott', obviously that didn't work on you. Wasn't his real name. He's a much admired Shakespearian actor when not doing adverts. His King Lear is still talked about in the Arthur Wait stand.

charity adverts really get my goat. They always show some poorly treated animal or a starving child when I'm about to have my dinner. Isn't it more likely the kid is hungry and having trouble speaking ? Edited by Forest Hillbilly (03 Apr 2021 8.14pm)

Edited by Forest Hillbilly (03 Apr 2021 8.14pm) Charity Advert "we need your money urgently now" Me "If it is so urgent to save these poor unfortunates then why are you sitting on a pile of cash, how about spending what you have then asking for more."

Seriously though if a charity did a TV add and said look we have spent most of our resources on this and we are running out of cash any day soon I think the public would respond to that.

Poor Nick Kamen died of cancer last Tuesday. RIP. But he left us with one of the most iconic TV ads ever. This Levi and caused a fair amount of female fluttering in the 80s. This was a proper commercial, not like some of the dross they churn out today.
Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled. |
