It would be close to the end of the season surely before Ramsey was considered fit enough to be in the first team. He's certainly not going to be an immediate impact buy, if he were to come.

He's been injured since the end of Nov...how much longer is he due to be out for?

Huge waste of wages and can see no reason why he'd come to us. Almost bound to play one or two games and then get injured. We can just laugh at Newcastle.

We're in London which is the only place he wants to live, and 2. Patrick Vieira, who he respects and for whom he wants to play. Now you have your answer. Whether you think those are good reasons is irrelevant. They are the reasons, good or not. The latest news makes it quite clear there is at least a reasonable chance that Ramsey will indeed end up at Selhurst. The situation seems to be: 1. He will leave Juventus by the end of this window. 2. His first choice destination is a top 6 Premier League team. But presently, none of those are in for him. 3. His plan B option, if no top 6 Premier League team comes in for him, is Palace. He has already turned down Burnley, Wolves, Aston Villa and at least one La Liga side. That's because they don't fit with his priorities above. There's no point Palace negotiating with Ramsey now because we know all of the above and until its been established that he isn't going to get his top six move, talking to him further is a waste of time. My guess is what'll happen is this. Ramsey will do nothing over the next two weeks but sit and hope a big six club comes in for him. If they do, that's where he'll go. If they don't, then on or around deadline day, negotiations with Palace will begin and he'll quickly sign for us. I'd say Ramsey to Palace is fairly decent bet right now. Not nailed on, but he's probably our most likely incoming in January so long as Man U, Man C, Liverpool, Chelsea, or Arsenal don't suddenly become interested in him. Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God. |

Edited by sydtheeagle (20 Jan 2022 9.13am) Fair assessment, and feels highly sensible. The only bit I get stuck on is contract length. I can imagine he would like a 6 month one. Get out of Juve, into London put himself in the shop window for the summer. I'm not sure that really helps us, we'll spend most of the rest of the season getting him fit. If we offer him anything it needs to be for a couple of years. 2 But then he is going to have to effective end his career with us.

A decent summary - OK its outside of London but if you have been camped in Turin for the last however many months Villa is relatively close - something like 90 minutes away from London by train ? Maybe he is hoping Arsenal, Spurs or WH show some interest. As you say he is in a position where he can sit on his arse until the final couple days of the window & then see who wants him. I read a report that Juve were prepared to pay 75%. As this still leaves £100k I suspect Palace are hoping Juve get so desperate to get him out they may pay more. Unless an agreement is made to pay up his contract

His contract expires in the summer and he is unlikely to play much for Juve before then so I think if a club offered them 2-3 million towards wages I reckon they'd take it.

He is too much of a sick note, even though Ramsey is a brilliant player when in form and free of injuries.

Two very important World Cup games coming soon for Wales, Ramsey needs to be playing and fit, I’d Wales succeed in going to World Cup, he again needs games, pressure is on him, if and a big if he keeps fit and has a good World Cup another big payday, I have a feeling he needs us
