And I have a sneaky suspicion she may munch rug as well... Personally you will never get another Commissioner who commanded the respect of the rank and file officers like John Stevens did Yes i didn"t bother mentioning that bit but seen as you did, also John Stalker, asked by mrs T to investigate if there was a shoot to kill policy in N.Ireland, he came back and said there was. Got fired, not the answer we wanted!

That's got to be put aside the fact that suicide bombers with ruck sacks had just killed loads of people.

Another stabbing in west croydon by the station this afternoon, was there an hour earlier, did see a bit of an argument- bloke ripping up receipts and few charity cases telling him to stop, but further up the road, another stabbing, in leafy coulsdon! Omg, it will be in the home counties next!

Not making excuses for what happened but I believe he ran as he was a Brazilian working illegally in the U.K. ( fact) and presumably thought he was to be arrested for this offence. I concur with cryst, unfortunately he decided to run whilst wearing a rucksack at the wrong time, as everyone was on edge.

I believe he was running for the train spider, and they had ample time to stop him as followed him from his flat. He may have been illegal here, but either way, the fact remains they could have stopped him earlier, he was innocent and just going to work, had worked late the night i met him, doing overtime, enough to make him fall asleep on the bus and miss his stop by about a mile or two. Fact remains, the leader of that calamity, cressie, is now the top police officer in this country, thats promotion for one of the biggest police cock ups(something she might not be familiar with), in recent times!

Dick got the top job largely because she is a lesbian woman who spouts the usual politically correct nonsense. The fact that she is incompetent doesn't seem to matter.

Disappointing (as always) to see so many racists supporting Palace, a team whose best players are black. You'd be afraid to share a bus with Eze or Wilf or Mitchell.
Successful black boys grow up with a dad who helped and supported them. Boys, of all colours, who are out stabbing each other are disproportionately from broken homes. Is it racist to say so ? no.

He didn't jump the barrier and he wasn't wearing a jacket. He was under surveillance and about to get on a tube. There had been the 7/7 attacks, then a failed attack two weeks later where a bomb didn't detonate from memory. I think it was still in August and very fresh in the mind. The 7 bullets argument is neither here nor their. They just wanted to take out a guy who they thought was going to get on a train an kill many people. Looking at it wholistically, things will go wrong, but that's one innocent person. Knowing the police are actively following targets will put people off. Look what happened in Streatham. On the other side of the argument, the Manchester bomber raised suspicion at Manchester Piccalilly, but the 18 year old security guard didn't say anything for fear of being called racist. Fear of political correctness is resulting in loss of life. Stop and search lasts a few minutes. I dont believe there is that much racial harassment with the police. They don't have the resources or time for it and they are cocks with everyone. Section 60 and a stop hear and there for 20 minutes can save lives. People can live with that inconvenience.... literally.

They don't have the resources or time for it and they are cocks with everyone. Section 60 and a stop hear and there for 20 minutes can save lives. People can live with that inconvenience.... literally. You make a good point in that they were acting on what they believed to be true. That may have indeed been wrong, but their intentions were to stop a serious incident and people are fallible. Split second decisions. At the same time I can understand those who highlight that the guys death was an injustice. Both realities can exist simultaneously. As for 'stop and search'.. in a more general sense it's a tricky call. If we're honest they are stopping who they perceive to match a threat demographic. The balance then comes down to the fact that the majority of people stopped and searched have in fact done nothing wrong. This can result in the same (innocent) people being stopped again and again, and I can see where problems can come up. Jordan Peterson actually echoed this point on Question Time a while back. The idea that any overt or covert racial profiling (which realistically does happen) may well result in more problems than positives. I was stopped once, for no good reason. If you'd asked me beforehand how I'd have reacted I'd have come out with some kind of 'thanks for your service' take, but the reality is that I did not feel that way at all. So with some multiply that, and add to it the fact that they already feel they're going to get stopped and targeted.. and it highlights real world outcomes that extend well beyond the idea that only troublemakers need worry. It's only part of the picture, as you rightly highlight other meaningful aspects, but it's a perspective worth adding to the mix.
