Guita needs to be dropped. Every team knows how bad he is under crosses so they just keep popping the ball right onto him and he won’t catch. He can do no harm giving Butland a run.

Burn, Dunk and White will have a field day with us.

So you are saying its all his fault? Really? What about the other incompetents like PVA Benteke Eze, Luka etcc etc? AndRoys tactics or lack of tactics, same old same old every bloody week....yet you blame the keeper, one of our better players? You must be a weed fan

Brighton flood the midfield and look to dominate the area and control the play.
It would be sheer folly to play a 2 man central midfield against them.
They are not prolific scorers, but do carve chances through quick interplay and getting down the sides.
As another poster pointed out they also carry a threat from set pieces with Dunk, Burn, White and Webster.
We’ve looked very vulnerable to set pieces and crosses in recent weeks with a failure to challenge or dominate in the penalty area.
It really is down to Hodgson to set us up to counter these threats while at the same time finding a way to hurt them in the likely absence of Zaha.
No more 442 with a static Benteke and Batshuayi up front.
It’s not 1970.
No more attempts at flimsy 2 man midfields dominated by the opposition.
If the Macs aren’t available stick Kouyate in there.
He’s not a great passer but has energy and will compete.
We need to counteract Bissouma.
I’m concerned that Hodgson will continue with his failing methods and fear a narrow defeat.

I think there full backs are the biggest danger as they play as wingers really, so with the lack of options i would play provide cover for our fullbacks and hope Eze with a free role can provide a bit of magic, a team like

Guaita

Ward Kelly Cahill Mitchell

Townsend/Clyne Kouyate Luke Jairo

Eze

Mateta

if either of the macs are available then one in for Luka, Dann and Bats should never play for Palace again

Sadly,Brighton will move ahead of us in the league when they beat us,probably 3-0,based on our last two non performances.
Our best hope is for game to be called off for bad weather reasons, giving chance for Wilf to recover and be match fit for revised fixture.
Without, our one man team, defeat stares us in the face as our slump in form shows no sign of abating.

Those are my fears Patrick. Hodgson seems to be totally blind to our weakness in midfield. We desperately need a 3rd DM and I agree Kouyate should join Luka and Jairo (I'm assuming neither of the Macs will be available). I don't knowwhat Kelly's done wrong not to get a game recently, but he should be played at CB instead of Kouyate).

I'm wondering how we would fare with a 4-3-2-1 formation with Mateta up top and Ayew and Eze playing narrow behind him (or even a 4-3-1-2 formation with Eze as the 1 and Ayew and Mateta up top). We don't have any decent wingers so why waste positions by playing Ayew and Townsend out wide? Any width would have to come from the full backs, all of whom are capable of putting in decent crosses if they can get far enough up the pitch.

Ultimately even a return to 4-3-3 is better than what we're currently seeing.

Why not try a 4-4-2 with a midfield diamond? Eze should play the number 10 role behind the two strikers, which is apparently his prefered position. As for the strikers I’d be inclined to try Ayew and Mateta up front together. Too risky for an away game against Brighton? Maybe, but they couldn’t do any worse. Put Kelly in at CB with Cahill, if he is fit and bring Kouyate into midfield.

I’m going for 2-0 to Brighton.

The only way we might get a result if Roy has been sacked by then.
