If, as usual, we do the next to no business in this January window, then the emphasis should be on sorting out the required contract renewals amongst the 15 players out of contract in the summer (including all the goalkeepers).
Getting Sakho off the wage bill would be a bonus and selecting a new captain (how did Luka liability play and captain yesterday ??) would be a good idea.

I agree with Sahko on £5.2 Million a year, but don’t forget

Max Meyer who’s on roughly £6.5 million

Plus Mr Glassman Wickham £3.12 million

Imagine some of the improvements we could make by binning some of these salaries.

Two interesting young midfielders at Aberdeen. Lewis Ferguson and Ross McCrorie. Ferguson is a box to box in the young James McArthur mode. Reckon both are ready for the next stage and certainly Ferguson already getting international intetest is worth the investment.
Demarai Gray on a free too. Only 24.

would bite my hand off for Lewis Ferguson. sadly I think his next move will either be to Rangers (father and uncle both played there), or to a bigger English side. Hell of a talent he is already. Speaking of the Glasgow side, McCrorie is on currently on loan from Rangers, so he wouldn't be a possibility.

Tosun was very unlucky when he was here before. He looked useful, then had this dreadful injury. But he is approaching thirty so not exactly a young player with bags of resale value?

With Bentenke likely to be offered a new deal and Ayew on the books I think we'd be better off looking for a younger striker who can try and oust those in front of them. Dipping into the lower leagues for a player who can develop seems a better option to me if we aren't going to spend much. There would be less pressure as they would be coming in as one for the future rather than being expected to be the main man.

Luke Jephcott and Siriki Dembele have their suitors.

McCrorie is on loan at Aberdeen until the end of this season then they have to buy him (price and contract length all sorted).

Thought that Palace was trying to bring down the age average and not increase it?

Tosun at the right price would be a good buy - offers SO
Much more than CB who we should deffo get rid of.

It is totally stupid to overlook any quality 30 year old who can do the business in order to bring down the average age - this can be achieved by bringing in a couple of promising youngsters and off loading the dead wood. Far too much importance is being attributed to the average age of the squad imo.
The important factors for all our squad should be fitness, performance levels, effort and ability ( not necessarily in that order) not being the wrong side of 30.

Tosun has hardly set the world alight. He never looked quick and he's just off the back of a bad injury. I don't think he's worth anything much more than a free, personally.
