Also - I think really you mean getting out of London generally - the stats you’ve shared are nowhere near the highest, South Kensington had more in total this month. London in general is a hive of gangs and crime. Croydon is the largest borough by population, with some of the poorest residents. The crime figures are always going to be above average with that demographic, however the picture you paint does not apply to the average resident. I live 10 minutes from the station, just off what you could describe as one of the less aesthetically pleasing areas but I’ve never had any issues. I’ve had more problems living in the shires than I have had here. Plenty of wronguns in both locations. Difference is here they usually target each other. Edited by SW19 CPFC (12 Nov 2020 8.42pm) Ah go after the employment history of a hard working immigrant & were not discussing SW7 are we. My mums house (again West Croydon) had the door kicked in whilst a gang of black men helped themselves to whatever they wanted, one held a machete to my mums throat damn near severing her thumb, my brother at the time was also living there he was also robbed, in a sweet twist of fate about a year ago a man got murdered in Croydon it turned out the one that got murdered is the one that held a machete to my mums throat.

Well said, i have to add i have never had any tropuble in centrale, top floor or otherwise! Really your take from my post is a tongue in cheek reference of Jumanji? the reason there is no trouble on the top floor of Centrale is because its completely abandoned, Shopping centres have had their day in the sun, Croydon council chasing after those £££ by buttering up Westfield was always doomed. Its pretty much like boasting about being better than Sunderland.

Not going after anything, just stating a fact No we’re not but if you’re being selective with stats be prepared for comparisons to give context. And in this case South Kensington had 1230 to 1136. It’s London generally. As terrible as your experiences are, they’re extreme - you’d be hard pushed to claim it as the average for every resident - also, if you live near to council estates or concentrated areas of impoverishment anywhere in London, what do you expect? Some parts of west Croydon are undoubtably terrible, but there are areas equal to or worse than across London. Just because of that, does it mean the entirety of Croydon is the same? No. It’s a massive borough. I think you mean central and west Croydon. And even then, specific parts of it.

I’m pretty sure I could find multiple areas in London that are worse than where he lived, which incidentally is the same (CR0) postcode as where I live. It’s perfectly understandable to develop confirmation bias, especially in this case, but as always it does not equate to reality. Obviously this goes on a lot but does it mean it’s the average experience across the borough? No. Absolutely not. It also never ceases to amaze me the amount of people on here who don’t actually live in Croydon, making consistently negative comments that are often not based on actual, day to day experience.

Again - I assume the comparison was with the city. Although I would argue you don’t need to move that far north simply to find your own slice of suburbia.
